healthy weight loss diet during pregnancy | Another Adventure 11 Weeks

healthy weight loss diet during pregnancy

11 week bump. I was going to hold off on posting pics until we got the cute, bump photo shoot sessions that we are planning for the blog. But, what the heck, are you kidding? Whats wrong with a little insta-gram action, hmmm? So, I waited until the evening, when my bump is the biggest and clicked that little button. Bam! There it is ladies and gentlemen. (excuse the odd glasses and leaf earrings in my candle holder. I have a toddler who likes to "help" me reorganize my precious belongings. haha)

Another adventure begins! Can you believe it!? The responses we have received from so many of you have blown us away and literally brought me to happy tears. Thank you SO much for celebrating with us! You have no idea what the simplest shared excitement has done for my heart. This has been an amazing and unique journey for us!

Our new little baby is due around August 25. That puts me around 11 weeks! Does that sound familiar? Yeah....Forest boys birthday is August 29th! haha! Can you see some mega joint birthday parties in our future!? Oh lord. Itll be fun! Ill just have to up my party planning a bit.  Ive been suuuuuuuper sick, throwing up, all day nausea...food is my friend one moment and my enemy the next. Bleh. But, when I feel super gross, I just remind myself this means the baby is doing its thing, shaking things up and growing good and strong.

Several of our closest friends have known for a few weeks and have been a DREAM of love, joy and support! (I love you guys so much.)  But, I was afraid and hesitant to tell everyone publicly about our news since we lost our baby, Windland, in November. Its been a constant struggle with me. And, in the back of my mind, no matter how excited I get, Im almost always met with a twinge of fear and a little sadness.  Samuel has helped me realize that my heart begins to let go of fear and starts to flourish when our friends celebrate with us over the addition of a new, happy little soul into our sweet community. Every squeal, or every time one of my girlfriends would bend down and start whispering sweet things to my baby, my heart would lay back and I would allow myself to feel real joy. Sometimes, the best way to protect your heart is to open it to the love of others. For me, this has been the case.  The past 3 weeks my heart has turned around in such a wonderful way. I think its called healing...   My face is constantly in a smile. (When Im not puking that is. haha. ) Its time to share! Time to celebrate and party! WERE HAVING ANOTHER BAAAABY!!!  I cant wait to meet my new little love and kiss his or her face. Sigh.

Im working on a post right now that goes into a good amount of detail about the unexpected journey my heart has been on the past 3 months. The challenges, the fears, the anger, the grieving and then throw into that mix the joy of our new baby. I have learned more about my soul, my heart and just myself in general in the last 3 months... more than I ever have in my entire life.

Im SUPER excited to share our journey with all of you! Thank you so much for following along. So many of you have smiled with me, laughed, cried sad tears and happy tears with me...thank you. Im expecting so much more of the laughing and happy tears this year!

Lets do this again yall!!!

-Jess

I had to throw this picture in that Lorean took last week from a day at the park. Myself,  Lorean, Lauren and our little munchkins had a day in the sun. Yes, that is Forest boy at the top of the stairs. My little fearless boy.  I love our babies.

weight loss after pregnancy uk | Blogmas 11 12 14

weight loss after pregnancy uk

Where does your mental health come on your list of things to do this month? With only 2 weeks to go before the big day (gulp!) if you are anything like me, your mental health is probably somewhere waaaaay down the list of things this Christmas.  Hang on, lets be honest.  If you are anything like me, its not even on your long list of things. I just never really think about it.  Until that is, I need to.  Last month, I was having real difficulty getting to sleep. I had list after list of things to do, things to plan, worries and thoughts all running round in my head the moment my head touched the pillow.

I had read about an app for your phone called Headspace after reading an article on how more and more people are turning to meditation in such a fast paced world.  Now, my previous experience with mediation was basically I have the concentration power of a gnat and instead of meditating I spend the time thinking how I SHOULD be meditating.

But, I decided to give it a try anyway. You download the free app to your mobile and then you listen to the app for 10 minutes per day for 10 days.  Now wait, before you start thinking of sitting crossed legged and umming and ahhhing, this is not that and there isnt any pan pipes or ocean sounds to be heard.  Its a guy who chats and tells you what to do, and basically its just about sitting still, breathing and taking time out of your day to actually be present and think about yourself.

It wasnt until I actually listened to the app I realised how little I do this.  How days go by before I even consider how I am feeling or I just take the time out to relax and just be. I wont to lie to you. Taking the time to just listen to the app was half of my battle. I was always too busy, and sitting still for 10 minutes was apparently impossible. However, I eventually got around to listen to it, and I am so so glad I did.  The night I listened to it I actually felt really relaxed and I fell into a really lovely deep sleep. Now you may call this a placebo effect, and yes, that might have been the case, but who cares! Because it worked for me and I felt all the better for it.

The app does actually have lots of science behind it, and if you want more information or to download the free take ten programme you can check that out here.  The app is something that I keep coming back to, and I guess that is a good start in recognising the importance of looking after your mind, being more mindful and, well, I guess doing a bit of meditation.  I think our lives today are so fast paced, that you can lose track of these basic thoughts and skills.  And even if the app just lets me know that actually things are OK and gives me a time-out, well, that can only be a good thing in my eyes.

I would be really interested to hear your thoughts on this.  Is this something you would try? Do you ever think about your mental health? Comments below please!

Thank you for reading and I will see you nice and relaxed tomorrow for Blogmas day 12!

pregnancy urine weight loss | Blogmas 13 12 14

pregnancy urine weight loss

My calendar seems to be very packed with Christmas catch-ups, drinks and general festivities at the moment, and with blogging daily as well, my days are just flying by.  This week I caught up with two of my lovely friends for food, drinks, and as always when we catch up, lots of gossip.  As Mr.Bee is away on business in America, my very kind in-laws came and baby-sat Baba for me.  I left the house at 7.15pm and told them I wouldnt be very long.  Before I knew it was 11.30pm and was apologising to them for being so late!!! Time just flies when Im with these two and there just always seems so much to talk about, and obviously it takes times to out the world to rights!!!!

I wore this gorgeous maroon dress that I picked up from Topshop last week.   I didnt used to like body-con dresses, but I tried this on and felt really comfortable in it (its very stretchy). You can pick the dress up from the Topshop website here and for £24 I think this is a really good buy.  You could dress it up with heels or dress it down with boots or flats and either go bare legged or put on tights. The length is great and doesnt make you look like youre short as some lengths of dresses can. I am also loving this shade of maroon at the moment too and it feels very festive!

I am now over the half way point for Blogmas 2014, and I have to say I am finding blogging daily to be quite hard at times!! I take my hat off to those that do it continually! I also feel overwhelmed by the lovely support and comments that the blogging community and readers have given me during Blogmas, it means alot to me, so thank you.  And I hope you will join me tomorrow for a tanning special on Blogmas day 14!

weight loss using pregnancy hormone | Blogmas 14 12 14

weight loss using pregnancy hormone

My love affair with fake tan has been a very, very long one. I can remember applying fake tan when I was back at college (thats about fifteen years ago now) and I can recall applying my fake tan for the very first time.  And then feeling the need to top up with bronzing pearls. Yup, you guessed it. I looked like an extra for Willy Wonkas chocolate factory that day.  Luckily for everyone, my orange days are behind me and I often get asked what products I use. So today, as we are now well and truly into the party season, I thought I would share my fake tan regime with you all. (If you prefer the English Rose look, maybe look away now!).

Before I had my daughter, I would spend a considerable amount of time messing about with fake tan.  My one of choice was Xen-tan.  I loved its colour which is very natural and not at all orangey.  It has an olive undertone, so you do really get a very natural golden glow. It is a little bit pricey and costs around £28.99 for a tube. But, if you have the time and you are a seasoned fake tanner, it is so worth it.

After having my daughter however, I could barely get dressed some days, let alone fake tan.  I did try it one morning and then forgot to do my hands.  I took that as a sign that I needed something a bit more fool proof.  Enter, Dove Summer Glow.

This stuff is fantastic and I now swear by it. I apply it 1-2 times a week, and it gives my skin a lovely tan and also leaves my skin feeling soft (I do have quite dry skin).  Its also a complete bargain for just £4.99 and its often on offer in Boots.  I buy the darker shade, but there is a lighter shade too.  You can also buy it with or without a shimmer. Personally I buy the one without a shimmer as I feel with the shimmer I pretty much resemble Edward Cullen.  So now onto application.

First things first, you need to prepare you skin before applying any fake tan.  And the best thing that I have found is using a massage / exfoliating sponge in the shower.  You can pick these sponges up from Aldi in a pack of three for around £2.  Just use the sponge with your normal shower gel and it gets rid of any dead skin cells and leaves you with a nice and even skin base from which to start.  I also use the sponge daily as I find this helps in keeping the tan fading even too.

So, after getting out of the shower I make sure my skin is totally dry and then I work my way up from my legs.  I dont use a mitt, I just use my hands.  I apply quite a small amount to my feet and carefully rub it around my ankles, and then I just apply it everywhere else as I would a normal moisturiser.  I take care to apply the product right up to under my chin and behind my ears.

I then wash my hands thoroughly with soap and water and dry them. I then apply about a five pence sized blob on the back of one of my hands and rub the back of my hands together. I then rub the back of my hands along the inner sides of each wrist so the product has now been applied everywhere but without using the palms of my hands for the last part of the application.

For my face, I use the Loreal Sublime Bronze facial dry mist. Its an aerosol spray and again, I find this gives such a natural colour. I apply this to my face once I have cleansed and moisturised. I then close my eyes and gently spray my face, moving from left to right and up and down.  I then take a piece of tissue and wipe any product off from my eyebrows.  I also gently blot my hairline to avoid any unsightly lines. The spray is around £8, but you can often find it on offer. I do have quite sensitive skin on my face and I have never had any problems with this spray.

The tan on both of these products develops gradually and if I was going on a night out or had an event I would apply the products the night before.  Now I think it goes without saying that if it is your first time fake tanning then always have a practice run a week before.  And a little goes a long way.  I think sometimes people slather it on, but you really only need a very thin layer, unless you are going for the orange look and in that case slather away!!!

I wish you all an orange free Christmas and please let me know if you try any of these products or tips out!

Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow for Blogmas day 15!
