post pregnancy weight loss dvd review | A picture tells a thousand words

post pregnancy weight loss dvd review

I love the story behind peoples possessions.  I love the idea that to me, one persons, say lamp, is well, just a lovely lamp.  But to that person that lamp may hold a long and interesting story about its past or its significance to that person.  It no longer is just a lamp. Its a story of maybe love, of loss or of fortune.

One of my favourite items in our home is a picture that hangs in the hallway.  It has vibrant shades of blue and to me, it looks like the perfect Summers evening next to the sea.  But, when I look at the picture, I see past those little houses, their reflections and the sky. Every time I look at the picture it takes me back to the Summers day we bought it.

Our daughter was just a week old and we had not long arrived home from hospital.  It was a gorgeous sunny Sunday afternoon and we decided to take our daughter out to the local park in the pushchair.  I was so happy. I was finally like one of those families that I had longed to be like. Me, my husband and our perfect little daughter wandering around the park. Our own perfect little family. We wandered into a local art shop next to the park and saw this picture and loved it straight away. We struggled to fit it under the pram (!) and my husband had to carry it around under his arm.  We then stopped on a bench as I fed my eternally hungry daughter.  At that moment I felt very blessed to have such a beautiful baby.  I felt so proud of our little family of three.

I have more happy days that I can remember in my life, but this day always stands out to me. This simple picture evokes this happy memory as I enter my home each day.  And that to me, makes it such a special picture.

Have you an object with a story or something that is very special to you? Comments below please.

weight loss during pregnancy obese | Pregnancy Blog Week 26

weight loss during pregnancy obese

Im so sorry for this delayed blog post! In fact, I am so sorry for the absolute silence that that has been my blog this last week! As soon as I dont feel well or feel myself, immediately my blog is one of the first things that goes.  Maybe if I was a bit more prepared I would have back-up posts ready, but last week, I had no such back up, so nothing was posted.

But here I am, and as you may have gathered, week 26 has been a bit bumpy.  I thought I was getting a cold at the end of last week, and that cold did come so I have felt pretty rough for a few days.  But, after I got rid of the cold, I just didnt feel myself.  I had arranged to meet up with various friends in the week, but I was finding everything a real struggle and effort and all I wanted to do was lie on the sofa.  I just felt really tired, aching and nauseous in the mornings.

Things came to a head in the week when I started to worry that maybe something wasnt right so I rang the midwife on Friday morning who saw me later that day.  She checked baby and everything was absolutely fine and I heard babies heartbeat which was very reassuring. They did some other checks and everything seems to be OK. And for the last few days I have felt much better.

It really gave me a bit of a wake up call though, and even though I eat quite healthily anyway, Ive ramped it up.  I really want to feel well during this pregnancy. Im now taking a daily pregnancy multi-vitamin, fresh orange juice with breakfast and just making sure Im looking after myself a bit more with lots of fruit and vegetables.

Aside from the drama of not feeling great, Im also really uncomfortable after eating which unfortunately appears to be most of the time as some form of food tends to be in my hand, whether that is fruit or a cookie! The discomfort is right under my ribcage and I find doing some side stretching really helps.

Bump is certainly sprouting, and I dont think there is any mistaking it now! Someone else asked me if I was excited this week, which really makes me giggle as I want to ask them if thats a serious question or not!!! Erm, of course Im excited, Im having a baby!!!!

Apologies again for my little absence and as always thank you for reading!

weight loss during pregnancy overweight | Maybelline Master Glaze Review

weight loss during pregnancy overweight

Up until pretty recently I had never tried a cream blusher in my life. I thought they would transfer way too easily from my skin and would disappear after about 30 minutes of wearing of them.  However, I tried Soap and Glorys Sexy Mother Blusher and I havent looked back.  I am now addicted to a cream blush.

When I was in America, I picked up Maybellines Master Glaze Blush Stick in Just Pinched Pink, and this stuff is amazing.  I havent seen it in UK stores yet, but if you see this, definitely pick one up. I have seen them online though, so if youre desperate to get your hands on one give it a Google.

The Just Pinched pink shade looks very pink and I did wonder when I first picked it up if I had gone a little too pink, but once on the skin the shade is gorgeous.  Its thick and creamy, amazingly pigmented and really easy to apply and blend.  You can go for quite a dramatic look or blend it out for a more natural shade which is what I do.   The staying power is amazing and even on a day when my skin might get a little sweaty, this blush sticks around.

For around £7 this puts my other powder blushes to shame and its perfect for the Summer months to give your skin that dewy glow.
What are your thoughts on cream blushers...would you give them a go?

Thanks for reading,

end of pregnancy weight loss | Pregnancy Blog Week 25

end of pregnancy weight loss

Luckily, week 25 has been quite uneventful and Ive had no further catastrophes in pregnancy yoga! I must say, Ive felt much better knowing I dont have to go ever again! Ive felt OK in myself this week, but I still have days where I feel exhausted and then days when I have more energy.

Ive had a niggling pain right under my ribs all week which gets worse whenever I eat, so thats pretty much all of the time! I think its either baby lying in a funny position, or as Ive read in a pregnancy book, it could be due to my ribs expanding which sounds pretty impressive!

Baby is now the size of a rutabaga if you are interested...which when I Google imaged a rutabaga, looks strangely similar to a swede!
I was in need of some new maternity clothes, and Im applying the term need loosely here, as the dresses that I had been wearing are now too tight and uncomfortable, and there are only so many times I want to wear a maxi dress!  I popped into Warehouse and found some lovely tops in the sale.  Even though Warehouse dont have a maternity line, I find sizing up the tops works as they tend to be a really nice length and fit over my bump.  The top in the picture was £16 and I got it in a size 16.  I thought when it gets a bit cooler I can wear a chunky cardigan over the top.

I popped into Topshop and tried a few things on in their maternity range, but I found a few of the dresses to be really short which was a bit disappointing.  I dont think they sometimes account for the amount of fabric it takes to cover the bump and this hitches alot of the hemlines up even more! I ended up buying a pair of Leigh maternity jeans which are super comfy.

Dont be fooled by the photo above either.  Ive got sunglasses on because all my eye make-up had smudged as I had been running around the park after my daughter all afternoon.  I was exhausted and I think I might be starting with a cold too.  Minutes after this photo was taken, my hair was in a bun, Id taken my make-up off and got into my pjs.  Its glamour all the way here folks...and heres the proof!

Have a lovely weekend!

weight loss rate after pregnancy | Maybelline Dream Flawless Foundation Review

weight loss rate after pregnancy

I have a pretty long list of demands when it comes to foundations. I want my skin to glow but not to look too shiny.  I want a light coverage but I also want imperfections covered.  I want something long lasting but not a product I need to scrape off with a shovel at the end of the day. Exactly.  My wishlist is a tad long, and my search for a foundation that I love has been a long time coming.  I came across the Maybelline Dream Flawless Foundation in Boots this week, and, as its currently on offer for £5.99, naturally it ended up in my shopping basket and here we are. But oh, its good.

There are seven shades to choose from and I picked up shade number 40 in Fawn.  By some sheer miracle the shade suits me (even though I picked it by the God awful test of putting it on the back of my hand. A big make-up no-no!). You have to shake the product thoroughly before applying to mix all of the ingredients.  It has a bulbous dropper and you are meant to drop a few drops of the foundation onto your finger and then blend in with your hands.  But, I am all about the buffing, so, I add a few drops to my hand and then apply with a brush and buff into my skin.

This product is really buildable and you can go for quite a thin coverage or apply more if you have any areas you want greater coverage.  When it first goes onto the skin it feels quite satiny and I was a little worried it would dry out my skin, but it really doesnt.  It sits perfectly and suits my combination skin by not being over drying or too oily.  It feels really light and I love how my skin feels with it on.  Cue a picture of me bare faced to the left, and to the right after applying the foundation (with other make-up on too!).

Whilst the bulbous applicator is a bit lost on me, (I would be quite happy to just tip the foundation out of the bottle), top marks for this foundation.  Its fantastic and certainly rivals some of the high end foundations I have tried.

weight loss recipes after pregnancy | Style Sunday The stripey one

weight loss recipes after pregnancy

I have a slight obsession with stripes.  In any given shop, I seem to be magnetically drawn to anything with a stripe to it.  I have swooned over the gorgeous Topshop striped dress that Beyonce famously wore, and I have drooled over other bloggers high-end finds in shades of nautical navy and white.  But, I have been unable to find a dress that suited me. Too short. Too long. Too shiny. Too expensive. I have striped dress needs and they were going unfulfilled.  Until, that is, I found this little beauty on ASOS and its striped perfection!

The dress is by a label called Fashion Union from the ASOS site.  What I adore about this dress is the cropped section to the top of the dress. It hangs just right and it covers a multitude of sins (such as when you have devoured the biggest chocolate cheesecake known to man!). The material also runs all the way underneath the crop section so there is no midriff showing. I think the crop section also adds a little bit more to the dress. The fabric is quite textured so it doesnt look or feel cheap. The length is perfect too.

You can find this stripey little fellow at ASOS and for only £28 its my favourite fashion buy of the year so far.  I know we are only in March but still.

What are your thoughts on stripes? Love them or think they should be reserved for the football teams? Comments below please!
