baby weight loss teething | Blogmas Christmas Day 2014

baby weight loss teething

Happy Christmas! A very very good morning to you all and a Merry Christmas! I hope you are enjoying your day.  As I sit here and type it is 11pm on Christmas Eve (with blogmas running a day late).  There is still a million and one jobs I need to do...you know when you just dont feel ready? I have a feeling I could stay up all night and still not be ready.  But before I run around like a mad woman and attempt to clean the windows (only joking...or am I?!?), all of that can wait whilst I type my last blog of Blogmas 2014!

Today started with an early morning walk with Pablo T Dog just as the sun was rising.  It was so so quiet and peaceful and the sky looked so pretty.  Do you ever have those weird moments where you just think wow and just feel so so small in the world?? Thats how I felt today. Granted I might have been a little overtired, but it was a lovely walk and I felt all the better for it.

I also ALWAYS walk past this lady who sells the Big Issue and I have never, ever bought a copy. There is this saying, do good, feel good. So after getting home we drove past the lady and me and Baba hopped out to buy a copy from her and wish her a merry Christmas. Baba did proceed to eat the front cover of the magazine in the car (the girl can eat a front cover but looks in disgust if I try and serve her lasagne). Anyway, it felt nice to do that today.

Mr.Bee then dropped me into town and I may or may not have headed straight for the Topshop sale.  Ok, so I did.  Dont judge me. Instead of making gingerbread houses with my daughter and husband I was in the changing rooms debating whether I really needed another blouse (apparently I did!).  I did manage to pick up a few things in the sale and it was quite nice just to have a little wander with nothing really to get.

I then went home and made gingerbread houses.  No, no I didnt.  I am in no way that artistic or crafty.  What we did do is run around screaming its Christmas Eve and then I obviously re-created the Frozen dance and danced to Beyonce!!

Its turned into a little Christmas tradition now that we have all the family round on Christmas Eve.  We do some nibbles, drink lots, eat lots and drink a little more.  Baba ran around like a mad woman and generally caused a bit of chaos.  She is so so excited for the big day tomorrow, and is convinced it will snow!!! Just before she went to bed we placed a carrot out and magic food for the reindeer and a mince pie and glass of milk for Santa with his magic key.  And yes, I know it makes no sense at all that we leave a magic key in the house for Santa, but just go with me here!!!

Our Christmas day tomorrow will be a quiet day, just the three of us and
then we will go to Mr.Bees family for Christmas tea.  Its then Christmas Day take II on Boxing Day as we head to my parents house to celebrate Christmas with them, and I cant wait!

And thats me.  I cant believe I have made it through Blogmas and Im still in one piece!!! I cannot thank you enough for all of the lovely support I have received and thank you to each and every one of you for reading.  Its felt like a bit of steep learning curve and journey blogging every day, but it has been lovely to share my month of December with you all.

I hope you are enjoying today.  And remember, its not meant to all go to plan.  Christmas wouldnt be Christmas without a few hiccups.(Remember me and Paris?!!! You can read that here).  Anyway, just go with the flow. The world wont end tonight.  Believe it or not, there is life after Christmas! Now go and enjoy yourself, of course have another mince pie, and a tad more chocolate too!

I intend to resume my normal blogging schedule next week, but until then, I wish you all a very happy Christmas and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading,

cholestasis of pregnancy weight loss | A Paddington Bear Party

cholestasis of pregnancy weight loss

Earlier this month, my daughter turned three years old and never one to turn down the chance to challenge myself and throw a good party, my daughter and I came up with a Paddington Bear birthday theme.  I have to admit, I had already rejected her idea of a Daddy themed birthday party as I couldnt quite figure out how that would go (!), so Paddington it was. I thought Id write a post about how I did our DIY Paddington Bear party, from the cake, the food and the games to the all important goody bags.

First stop...decorations
I bought alot of Paddington themed party decorations and table ware from the Childrens Party Shop online.  I found their prices to be the cheapest online and the delivery was really quick too. I bought banners, Paddington Bear little red party hats, the cake topper, a bear sandwich cutter and a few other bits for the party bags from them.

We also bought a helium balloon for each child and attached it to their chair at the table...which was a big hit! I got these from The Card Factory as they were alot cheaper than some other shops.

Drum roll please..the Cake
You really can find anything on YouTube, and I found this amazing tutorial on how to make a Paddington Bear cake.  This was shortly after I had Googled a cake and found the one I liked would be £160!!!! Always up for a challenge, I set to work!

Now, Im not a great cook, and there was always that disaster with the carrot cake, but, I can make a simple sponge and I thought I could wing the rest.  Yes, it was a bit fiddly, and it did take me the best part of a day to do with the cooking of the sponges too, but I absolutely LOVED doing it, and I think it turned out OK for a novice. (Obviously I made all guests admire it before cutting it). Ta dah!

Food
We hired a party package from a nearby leisure centre, and for the first hour of the party the children played on a bouncy castle and soft play toys, and then for the second hour we had another room where they sat and ate tea and then played a few games.  No catering was included so that meant I had to make all of the sandwiches.

I decided to do lunch-boxes for each child, and before the party I had asked parents if their child would like cheese, ham or cheese spread sandwiches.  I then bought a cheap cookie cutter in the shape of a bear (from the party shop) and cut out the sandwiches.  I placed these in the lunch-boxes along with a yoghurt, bag of carrot crisps and a fruit bar. The children seemed to love the lunch-boxes and there was very little waste as the children eagerly ate their individual portions.

I bought the lunch boxes from Amazon, and then I made name tags using luggage labels.  I then hand stamped the name of each child, printed out a Googled image of Paddington and glued it onto the tags and fastened to each box with wool.

For the adults, I did three types of sandwiches: cream cheese and cucumber, chicken salad and ham and mustard.  I found the three platters I did were enough to feed the parents of 13 children and a few extra family members. I also got crisps, dips and a selection of dipppers, and then some sweet treats.  I never know how much food to make for parties, so I hope this gives you an idea of what to prepare!

Games
We had to be quite inventive with the games and we roped in my mum to help organise the children which she loved!!  We thought we would do games so the children didnt just eat and leave, and by then they were all pretty relaxed so everyone wanted to join in.

I bought a pack of medals from the pound shop to give to each of the children as prizes, and then little boxes of raisins that they picked out from a tin too.

We printed out a huge picture of Paddington Bear and the children had to pin a hat on his head.  We then did old fashioned throwing a beanbag in a hula-hoop which as simple as it sounds, the children loved! And we also had an egg and spoon race.

Party Bags
We had quite an age range for the party bags, so I split the bags into ones for the very young and then the older children.  I couldnt find any nice Paddington Bear party bags, so I made my own.  I ordered plain white bags from Amazon, and then I Googled an image of Paddington.  I then printed the picture onto some parcel paper, ripped around the image and glued it to the bag.  I then used luggage tags and stamped thank you, and then I stamped each childs name onto the bag.

For the older children, treats included, Play-doh pots (which you can buy cheaply in multi-packs), a little book (again, Id bought a multi-pack and split the books), chocolate, a pack off snap cards, and some Paddington stationery.

For the younger children, they had a finger puppet (part of a multi-pack Id sepearted), a toy bath boat and a little book. I also popped a slice of cake into each goodie bag.

My daughter LOVED the party and all of her friends did too.  You might read this and think Im absolutely mad doing all of the above, but I loved doing it and there is quite some satisfaction knowing youve done all the little finishing touches. When my daughter is 18 and doesnt want me anywhere near her birthday celebrations, I know I will look back on our Paddington Party with fondness, alot of sweat and tears, but lots of love.

Thanks for reading,

baby weight loss tracker | Blogmas 22 12 14

baby weight loss tracker

Hello and can you believe its the 22nd of December already? Where has the month gone? Today is a pretty quite day in the Laura Evelyn Bee household and I am running errands and catching up with the family. I thought I would review a new foundation I have tried and oooh, its a good one!!

My quest for an amazing foundation has been a pretty long one.  I absolutely adored Loreals true match foundation.  I loved the coverage, the texture and my skin looked amazing!! Well, it looked amazing until I had an allergic reaction to it! Sob! So thats one off the list. (If you arent allergic to it this foundation is amazing and definitely worth a try!!).

I recently picked up a sample of the Estee Lauder Enlighten Even Effect Skin Tone Corrector as I had seen a picture of someone wearing it and their skin looked amazing! Firstly the name. What a mouthful! Basically, its a very sheer foundation cream that aims to make your skin look flawless and cover a multitude of sins from dark circles to redness.  Yes please! And now for the slightly bad bit. It costs £34 for 30ml which is waaaay more than my usual foundations.  But, I thought if it makes my skin look amazing, I would certainly purchase it (I hope my husband doesnt read this, no, of course I wouldnt pay £34 for a foundation Mr.Bee, cough, cough!).

If you need a high coverage foundation then I wouldnt say this foundation is for you as it is quite a light coverage. But I love how it feels on my skin.  It feels so light and it really does give my skin a very healthy glow.  I think in the Summer months this would be perfect for me as this is the time I dont want a heavy foundation. For the current Winter months, I dont know, I just feel I need something with more coverage.

Heres a picture of me without any make-up on the left, with just this foundation in the middle picture and then with the rest of my make-up on to the right. What do you think?

The foundation comes in three shades and I went for the medium and I felt it suited my skin tone well.  This product is definitely worth a look or even sneaking onto your Christmas wish list and I think I will be making a purchase in the Summer months.  But for now, my foundation quest continues.

Have you tried this product or are you loving another foundation I should try? I would love to read your comments below please!

See you nice and early tomorrow for a toddlers first trip to the cinema!!!

baby weight loss tumblr | Blogmas Christmas Eve 2014

baby weight loss tumblr

Its Christmas Eve!! Yayyyy!!! And if you read yesterdays blog (which you can see here) you will know that I have a list as long as my arm that still needs completing. I have a few additions which now include cleaning the dogs teeth, polishing the sofas and cleaning the windows, which all obviously have to be done before the big day tomorrow or the sky will fall in.  Anyway, enough about my to-do-or-Christmas-wont-be-the-same list.  What better thing to read about on Christmas Eve than reindeers and ponies with big hair? Sit down or continue queuing in ... add shop of your choice here, and let me tell you about our trip to a reindeer farm.

Come Christmas and there are more reindeers than you can shake an antler at.  The lovelies are everywhere.  But after something a bit different, we went to visit Blithbury Reindeer Lodge (as recommended by Brummy Mummy of 2...totally go and check her out if you dont know who this lady is!).  Blithbury lodge is home to the largest working reindeer herd in England, and over Christmas you can book a ticket to meet the reindeer and go and visit Santa himself.  Now, if you are thinking this is just another Santa land experience like the dozens of others up and down the country, you are wrong.  There isnt a dodgy dancing snowman in sight.  Its rustic, charming and you just fall in love with the reindeer.

You wander around the lodge, meeting and feeding all of the the reindeer. From large male reindeer with the most spectacular antlers, to smaller females and even little babies.  We also met this handsome fellow.

I would like to think that if I was a pony, I would have a fringe as lovely as this little guys.  You can also pay to have a traditional sleigh ride pulled by one of the reindeers.  Mr Bee and Baba snuggled in and were pulled along to sounds of little hooves a-trotting. If this all wasnt lovely enough, you then get to go to Elf School. I obviously got way too excited, and thinking that this was my preparation for wizarding school, I dragged Baba to the front row. :-)

We learnt how the reindeer fly and we were given a bag full of magic food to leave out for the reindeer on Christmas Eve.  Then, came our call to meet the big man himself, Santa. If I could pick a Santa, it would be this one.  From his little wire spectacles to his actual white eyebrows, he was the real thing.  Of course my daughter had talked none stop about him since July, and naturally when we met him for the very first time she stood there with her mouth wide open and became mute. She didnt cry, but she was definitely a little shocked. Maybe its like my reaction when I see celebrities (but thats a whole other story you can read here).

Santa took my daughters sudden loss of voice all in his stride and he happily chatted away about his magical reindeer, if she had been a good girl and her love of Peppa Pig (you complete a form beforehand so Santa knows a bit more about your little one).  My daughter loves telling all who will listen...apart form Santa...that the one present she really really wants is a jigsaw (even though she only added this to her list two days ago...so hasnt got one!).  After meeting Santa we were allowed to take a sneak peek into Santas workshop and the little ones can pick any toy that they like.  There wasnt a dodgy plastic toy in sight and Baba picked a lovely jigsaw! Hurrah! (Tick jigsaw off very long to do list!).
Unfortunately, Blithbury Lodge is closing for Christmas today, but it does open at various points throughout the year and you have to put this on your list of places to visit next Christmas.  You can find out more information here.

And that was our lovely day meeting Santa and his reindeer. I wish you all a very Happy Christmas Eve!! And fancy coming to a party tomorrow? You do? Well I will see you bright and early for my very last Blogmas post!

Thank you for reading,

weight loss during pregnancy ok | Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche Review

weight loss during pregnancy ok

I read somewhere that if you wear your favourite perfume and people have never commented on the fact that it smells nice on you, then you still havent found your signature scent.  Now, I dont need much of an excuse to go perfume shopping, but with the horror that my signature scent is still on a shelf somewhere, I leapt into action.  Well, not literally, lets just say I made a mental note to hit the perfume aisle when I next went shopping!

I had heard good reviews about Estee Lauders Bronze Goddess perfume, and the lady lounged next to a pool looking particularity bronzed and goddess like on the advertisement, was enough to draw me in.

This scent is just beautiful. Its an Eau Fraiche, and I wont pretend I knew what this meant, which is apparently quite a dilute perfume.  Which is good news for me as I am not a fan of heavy perfumes.  But thats not to say you cant smell it.  The lightness of the scent means that you can spray away to your hearts content without smelling like youve bathed in the stuff.

This perfume basically smells of holidays and sunshine.  In fact, its a holiday bottled. The description of this perfume lists the ingredients as bergamot, warm amber, tiare flower, vanilla and coconut. Whilst it is quite sweet smelling, its certainly not sickly or smells like it belongs on a teenager.  My husband even commented that he liked the smell of it on me, and that my friends, is enough of a result for me. Summer in a bottle.  Sorted.

causes of pregnancy weight loss | Pregnancy Blog Week 22

causes of pregnancy weight loss

Im now 22 weeks and I keep thinking that Im past the half-way point! Sometimes that makes me feel happy, that, in the not too distant future I will get to meet Baby Bee. But sometimes, it makes me feel a little sad, as there is only 18 weeks left of my pregnancy. I know that may sound bizarre, as I suffered so much with my BFF, morning sickness, but I just think pregnancy is so special and I feel so lucky to have the chance to experience it again, that I kind of dont want it to go by too quickly. I want to enjoy every week.  Not that I want this pregnancy to last forever, but Im excited just to be pregnant, not to mention the amazing part of having a baby at the end of it.

Its been such a busy week as my daughter has now turned three!! We threw a Paddington Bear party for her on the weekend and to say Id planned ahead would be an understatement. This party was executed with military precision! She really enjoyed herself and everything went to plan. If you are interested, there will be an upcoming blog on how to throw a Paddington Bear party, from the party bags, games to a home-made cake!

The down side to all of this toddler partying was that for the following two days after the party, I felt like I had the worst hangover ever, though a drop of alcohol never even passed my lips.  I think it was my bodys way of telling me to slow down a little. After a VERY early night, Ive felt much better since.

I also keep managing to somehow bend in the middle of my bump, as its not huge yet, I forget its there and then find Ive strained myself when I bend down.  Im sure the baby must be wondering what the hell Im doing.  I also find it uncomfortable to sit on some chairs and on the sofa too, I feel like a pair of legs suddenly appears just below my ribcage. Ive had some pains in my lower back which I cant remember from the first time round.  I guess everything is stretching and moving around, but I thought it was too early in my pregnancy for all of this malarkey? And surely my body has already stretched once so knows what to do? I also have replaced morning sickness with heartburn, so Ive bought the biggest bottle of Gaviscon that is so big it looks like I bought it from a joke shop.

Im sure Im making my pregnancy sound very glamorous, but I am absolutely loving it! Ive already made lots of lists as to things I need to do before baby arrives and Im already planning a big spring clean. Whilst we do have most of the things we need for baby, that hasnt stopped me drooling over a pram today! It was also in the sale! But I resisted...for now!

Sorry that its been a little bit quiet on the blog front too. I find I cant blog when Ive lots of things to do and Im not relaxed, and today is the first day Ive felt able to type whats going on in my little pregnant head!

I have a great post tomorrow about the Summer perfume that you need in your life, so be sure to pop back then!

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend,
