baby weight loss 5 months | Falling out of love with social media

baby weight loss 5 months

I have been very quiet on my social media pages just recently (audible gasp), and, if Im honest, Ive just really fallen a little bit out of love with it all.  As a blogger, you are meant to have your finger on all of your social media pulses, but my enthusiasm to do this has been pretty dead of late.

I actually havent even looked at my Instagram for a week now, and Twitter Ive glanced at once.  But I can honestly say, I havent really missed looking them.  Before, without really knowing I was doing it I would be checking my news feeds and before I knew it, I would be looking at some random persons outfit of the day.

Twitter really annoyed me recently, and whilst I follow some lovely people, I was getting really fed up of people following me only for me to follow them back back and then they would un-follow me.  It really feels like to some people its just a process to try and get as many followers as possible rather than actually wanting to engage and interact with others.

And then Im fretting about what Im actually tweeting.  Does anyone actually want to know that Im on my third (ok, fourth) biscuit? (Ok, ok, fifth).

And its the same on Instagram.  Looking at other peoples beautiful snaps is lovely, but then as Im sat in my pjs with toothpaste round my mouth and my hair resembling that of a birds nest, I dont always want to be reminded of other peoples luscious locks and adventures in a fairytale forest whilst they ride upon pink unicorns.  Or something like that.

I hope I dont sound bitter.  Hmmm, maybe I do and well blame it on the pregnancy hormones.  But sometimes, its nice to take a step back and disconnect from that social world.

I realise I wont be doing myself any favours with gaining new followers with this post! This really isnt an advert to follow me on my social media!! But, its the truth and this week, its how I feel.

Of course, I will be back on said social media accounts, and of course I will always love a little look at what other people are doing / up to.  But its nice to remember that life is happening right now and we dont need to tweet or instagram it to enjoy it. Sometimes its great to just be in that very moment and not tell a single other person about that beautiful sunrise you saw or delicious cake you just ate, because, well, its your secret. Just seeing it with your own eyes and experiencing is sometimes just enough.

vlcc post pregnancy weight loss | Pushchair Wars

vlcc post pregnancy weight loss

Hmmmm, I dont want you to get the wrong impression of me.  Im not a trouble maker.  Honest.  Trouble just seems to find me.  And in this case, it found me and my daughters pushchair.

Now, maybe I should start by saying that I am not exactly the best pushchair driver.  I may or may not have caught peoples heels, ran over their feet and once nearly took a pensioner out.  But, I can assure you these were all genuine mishaps and I profusely apologised afterwards. I even called a cab for the pensioner so they could go to A&E (joke!). But, I feel now my daughter is two and a half, I have earned a proficiency in pushchair management and I can expertly do a quick three point turn single handedly, whilst simultaneously keeping an eye on the sale item I need to get to before the other woman does, all whilst singing the wheels on the bus.

But, alas. This tale is not about how sh*t-hot I am at driving the pushchair.  No sir.  This is about the goodwill of the shopping population.  Sorry. Did I say goodwill? I meant fury and hate towards pushchair drivers! I popped into town last week and I got cut up, bashed, tutted at and blatantly blocked. My crime? Having a pushchair.  I thought we were gearing up for the season of goodwill? More like blood spill.

I completely understand that the shops are busy. That there isnt much room.  That people are busy.  And the last thing people want is me, the pushchair, and my daughter with her arms like an aeroplane, very helpfully touching every single thing that her little hands can touch (read: EVERY SINGLE THING...this includes walking sticks, shop merchandise, bags and furry coats especially).  I get that.  But please. Give me a break.

I am a human too.  I am trying to do my Christmas shopping too.  Did I already say I am human too? As I was in one shop, the queue to get out of the shop suddenly backed up.  A cashier piped up loudly that pushchairs were the bane of her life!!!!  I wasnt even causing the kerfuffle! Someone had dropped their wallet in front of me!  So I whizzed round, lifted my daughter up, who then karate kicked the woman in the face in the style of Kill Bill.  Ok. That didnt happen. But I may have thought it.  Though I do not condone any sort of violence towards shop assistants.  But how mean of her to say that!

Where are peoples understanding and love? They have clearly traded them in for the most wanted Frozen merchandise.

If anything, I think shoppers should applaud me.  And maybe cheer as I stroll by. Yeah you go Laura!  Yes, you can do it! I mean I not only have to remember my shopping list because my daughter ate it in the first shop.  But I also have to run from one side of the shopping centre to the other so my daughter can go to the toilet (she does this at the precise mathematical moment that I am the furthest away from them- the girl is a genius).  I am also steering, dodging people trying to get me to switch energy suppliers, working out what to actually buy and thinking what to cook for tea.  Go me!

So please, lets all show a little love to one another this Christmas time.  Yes, we are all busy.  Yes, it can be stressful.  But lets give a break to the mums with pushchairs. And because if you dont I may just unleash my inner Kill Bill moves and Baba will drop kick you out of the shop. After, that is, she has stroked your furry coat.(Not that I condone violence in any way).
Happy shopping everyone! :-)

weight loss very early pregnancy | Pores Up

weight loss very early pregnancy

I can honestly say I never really noticed the pores on my face until I found a product that concealed them.  Now I cant get enough of the product and I wonder how I ever lived without it. You know the product Im talking about, everyone from here to Timbucktoo seems to rave about it, so I thought I would give it a try too. Introducing Benefits, The Porefessional.

Oh, you so need this little beauty in your life.  Trust me.  And for once, I can show you the immediate effects of the product on those pesky little pores.  Here goes! Heres an up close and personal picture of my face.  The picture on the left is my natural beauty (!) pores and all. The picture on the right is after applying only The Porefessional.

What do you think? To me, the difference is clear to see.  And I think there are few products that you can actually see a immediate difference with.  When you then go to apply your foundation, the pores are no-where to be seen! Ta-dah!

The product is quite thick and creamy and you just dot a very small amount over your pores before you apply your foundation.  I can only liken it to almost plastering over your pores so you skin is suddenly nice and flat, but the product is really light at the same time and lasts all day.  Amazing!

You can pick up The Porefessional from Benefit here and there is an offer with benefit at the moment where you can pick two free samples with every order. You could always choose this as your sample if there is another product you regularly use. Debenhams also has a big sale event on at the moment and The Porefessional is on discount here.  Whilst it might sound a bit pricey, I promise you this product does make a difference, and you only need a tiny bit of product, so it will certainly last.  Definitely one to try or pop on your Christmas wish list!

cholestasis of pregnancy weight loss | A Paddington Bear Party

cholestasis of pregnancy weight loss

Earlier this month, my daughter turned three years old and never one to turn down the chance to challenge myself and throw a good party, my daughter and I came up with a Paddington Bear birthday theme.  I have to admit, I had already rejected her idea of a Daddy themed birthday party as I couldnt quite figure out how that would go (!), so Paddington it was. I thought Id write a post about how I did our DIY Paddington Bear party, from the cake, the food and the games to the all important goody bags.

First stop...decorations
I bought alot of Paddington themed party decorations and table ware from the Childrens Party Shop online.  I found their prices to be the cheapest online and the delivery was really quick too. I bought banners, Paddington Bear little red party hats, the cake topper, a bear sandwich cutter and a few other bits for the party bags from them.

We also bought a helium balloon for each child and attached it to their chair at the table...which was a big hit! I got these from The Card Factory as they were alot cheaper than some other shops.

Drum roll please..the Cake
You really can find anything on YouTube, and I found this amazing tutorial on how to make a Paddington Bear cake.  This was shortly after I had Googled a cake and found the one I liked would be £160!!!! Always up for a challenge, I set to work!

Now, Im not a great cook, and there was always that disaster with the carrot cake, but, I can make a simple sponge and I thought I could wing the rest.  Yes, it was a bit fiddly, and it did take me the best part of a day to do with the cooking of the sponges too, but I absolutely LOVED doing it, and I think it turned out OK for a novice. (Obviously I made all guests admire it before cutting it). Ta dah!

Food
We hired a party package from a nearby leisure centre, and for the first hour of the party the children played on a bouncy castle and soft play toys, and then for the second hour we had another room where they sat and ate tea and then played a few games.  No catering was included so that meant I had to make all of the sandwiches.

I decided to do lunch-boxes for each child, and before the party I had asked parents if their child would like cheese, ham or cheese spread sandwiches.  I then bought a cheap cookie cutter in the shape of a bear (from the party shop) and cut out the sandwiches.  I placed these in the lunch-boxes along with a yoghurt, bag of carrot crisps and a fruit bar. The children seemed to love the lunch-boxes and there was very little waste as the children eagerly ate their individual portions.

I bought the lunch boxes from Amazon, and then I made name tags using luggage labels.  I then hand stamped the name of each child, printed out a Googled image of Paddington and glued it onto the tags and fastened to each box with wool.

For the adults, I did three types of sandwiches: cream cheese and cucumber, chicken salad and ham and mustard.  I found the three platters I did were enough to feed the parents of 13 children and a few extra family members. I also got crisps, dips and a selection of dipppers, and then some sweet treats.  I never know how much food to make for parties, so I hope this gives you an idea of what to prepare!

Games
We had to be quite inventive with the games and we roped in my mum to help organise the children which she loved!!  We thought we would do games so the children didnt just eat and leave, and by then they were all pretty relaxed so everyone wanted to join in.

I bought a pack of medals from the pound shop to give to each of the children as prizes, and then little boxes of raisins that they picked out from a tin too.

We printed out a huge picture of Paddington Bear and the children had to pin a hat on his head.  We then did old fashioned throwing a beanbag in a hula-hoop which as simple as it sounds, the children loved! And we also had an egg and spoon race.

Party Bags
We had quite an age range for the party bags, so I split the bags into ones for the very young and then the older children.  I couldnt find any nice Paddington Bear party bags, so I made my own.  I ordered plain white bags from Amazon, and then I Googled an image of Paddington.  I then printed the picture onto some parcel paper, ripped around the image and glued it to the bag.  I then used luggage tags and stamped thank you, and then I stamped each childs name onto the bag.

For the older children, treats included, Play-doh pots (which you can buy cheaply in multi-packs), a little book (again, Id bought a multi-pack and split the books), chocolate, a pack off snap cards, and some Paddington stationery.

For the younger children, they had a finger puppet (part of a multi-pack Id sepearted), a toy bath boat and a little book. I also popped a slice of cake into each goodie bag.

My daughter LOVED the party and all of her friends did too.  You might read this and think Im absolutely mad doing all of the above, but I loved doing it and there is quite some satisfaction knowing youve done all the little finishing touches. When my daughter is 18 and doesnt want me anywhere near her birthday celebrations, I know I will look back on our Paddington Party with fondness, alot of sweat and tears, but lots of love.

Thanks for reading,

Hey lovelies! Fall is hands down my favorite time of the year...all though, I find myself saying that at the beginning of every new season. ;) But, for reals, fall IS my ultimate fav. Cooler weather, pumpkins, corn mazes, yummy smelling candles, apple cider, the crisp air and every harvest colored thing, are just dreamy to me. And, of course with me being born and raised in Dallas, watching professional football is a weakness of mine too ~ not gonna lie. ;) One thing I love about changing seasons is, that its an excuse to have a party. ( I LOOOOVE throwing parties!) I also love to change the feel of the decor in my house and explore new recipes or bring out old ones.

pregnancy weight loss natural | Halloween Party Inspiration

pregnancy weight loss natural

Its that time of year again, where you cant move in your local supermarket without fear of knocking the giant pumpkin display over (oh, thats just me then) and theres more costumes and candy than you can shake a witches broom at.  Our Halloweens have always been pretty low key, but now my daughter is that little bit older, (she has already eyed up a werewolf costume she has taken a fancy to), I thought Id put a bit more thought into this years celebrations.

The lovely people at Zazzle kindly let me loose on their website to choose my picks for Halloween, so without further ado, heres what I chose for a spooky Halloween themed party.  Oh, and before I begin, I should really say it took me hours to pick.  Zazzle has so much choice that I really could have spent a good week debating the various merits of their Halloween stock!

First up, if you are throwing a little Halloween gathering, you need invitations.  These immediately caught my eye as they were spooky, without being frightening for little ones. The design of these is the design that is on the Zazzle website, but you can completely personalise the invites and play around the design to your hearts content.  The invites are printed on really high quality paper and have a very luxurious feel to them!

I adored these little pumpkin favor boxes and thought these would be the perfect size for sending guests home with cake and Halloween goodies. Again, you can completely personalise the boxes with your own message on each box.

No Halloween party is complete without some paper plates! I loved the design of these and they are the perfect size for Halloween treats.

And in a similar design to the plates, I thought this poster was also really great and would go wonderfully hanging above the cake table!  Again, the poster is really high quality and something that will definitely last.

With the help of my daughter, we picked a few treats out for her. She choose this very cute Halloween apron, which she hasnt wanted to take off since it arrived.  Its lovely thick material and the perfect size for her to make some yummy Halloween cupcakes in.

We also picked out this very soft cotton dress, with a little Halloween motif on the front.  Again, the quality is fantastic and its Halloweeny without being too in your face. (For some reason she was dancing like a crazy lady when I was trying to take her picture in it). I ordered size 4/5T which fitted my daughter perfectly, she is 3 years old and normally wears aged 3-4 clothes.

Lastly, we picked up this canvas bag which is the perfect size to hoard all of our Halloween goodies in.

All of the above products can be found at Zazzle, and I cannot recommend the site enough. The range and quality is amazing and the ability to personalise almost anything on their site is fantastic. This is the first time Ive used Zazzle, but I will definitely be returning.  At the moment, you can use code: SHOPXMASCARDS on the Zazzle website for 35% off invitations, greeting cards and photo cards.

Right, Im off to find my witches broom and double check my daughter does want to be a werewolf! :-)

Thanks for reading and wishing you all a happy Halloween!

Zazzle kindly sent me the above items for review.  All opinions are completely honest and my own.

raw vegan pregnancy weight loss | Hen Party Part II

raw vegan pregnancy weight loss

Hello and welcome to part II of the Marvellous Manchester weekend...if you missed part I (where were you?!?), you can read that down below.  But today I thought I would share with you where we stayed and what we got up to in Manchester, so lets begin!

We all boarded the train to Manchester early on Saturday morning.  We arrived and checked into the Hilton Deansgate in Manchester which is a gorgeous hotel in the centre of Manchester. It is 47 storeys high and apparently can be seen by 10 English counties on a clear day! The rooms are lovely and the views are amazing as you would expect.  We unpacked, freshened up and made our way out into the city of Manchester.

We were booked in for the afternoon high tea at the Grand Pacific at Australasia. A gorgeous restaurant in Manchester city centre.  The high tea was an afternoon tea with a twist.  It came in two "waves". The first wave was a three tier sushi and salad selection served with a glass of the Spee’ Wah Australian ‘champagne’.  The second wave was a selection of the most beautiful and frankly yummiest desserts.  It was something a little bit different to your normal afternoon tea in the most perfect and relaxed setting.

Saturday evening was spent getting ready, using the hotel spa and swimming pool and getting ready for the night ahead.  We began the night at Cloud 23 which is actually on the 23rd floor of the Hilton hotel. It is well worth a visit for the amazing views and delicious cocktails. The bar is open to non-residents of the hotel but I would advise booking beforehand via their website so you dont have to queue.

There was lots of drinking, dancing and laughing as we visited local bars. We did randomly end up in the local Subway (yes, as in eat fresh Subway!) for a quick snack half way through the evening.  A girls got to have some carbs before she dances the night away!!!

We booked Artisan for Sunday lunch before we all boarded the train home. You HAVE to go here.  The surroundings, service and food was unbelievable.  The menu has everything from burgers and wood fired pizzas to traditional Sunday roasts at reasonable prices too. I have not a bad word to say about this restaurant. You just have to go!

No, I didnt eat all of this and then have a chocolate pudding. No. That just didnt happen. No. Ok, thats exactly what happened.

We headed home with full bellies (some fuller than others!) and amazing memories. I cannot recommend the places we went to enough. And did you know the Manchester Christmas markets start next week? What better time to take a little trip to Manchester! I am visiting the markets next week so stay tuned for some festive market blogging coming your way!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend,

pregnancy weight loss no nausea | Pregnancy Blog Week 35 36

pregnancy weight loss no nausea

Hello there!  Im so sorry that there has been a complete lack of blog posts in the last week, and I actually missed my week 35 update to!!! So here I am now 36 weeks pregnant!!! Its been such a hectic few weeks and I have to say, I have turned into somewhat of a crazy lady.  You know how I said that my husband had been away and I was frantically cleaning?  Well, that all seemed to step up a gear last week as I developed an unhealthy relationship with bleaching my kitchen floor.  I know, weird.  It got to the point that I was actually thinking about it at night because I had missed an area and obviously this needed rectifying ASAP!!!

After I had scrubbed the floor to within a inch of its little tiled life, my cleaning obsession now knows no limits, and we have a weeded front garden, recently changed around lounge (which the husband doesnt like) and gleaming mirrors.  The only problem is we have to live in the house.  I think if we could move out to maintain its immaculateness then I would be quite happy with that.  I know, I know, Ive lost it.  Because lets face it, in a few weeks the house is going to be the furthest thing from my mind.

Apart from obsessive cleaning, I have finally packed my labour bag, expect a post about all my essentials soon!

My number one worry now is we still havent decided on a name. There are a few names we like but they are way too similar to friends childrens names, and if we used them I would be fretting too much about it.  So, on a list at the moment is about 5 that we keep debating over, and I keep going off them and then re-liking them. Im such fun to live with at the moment.  If my poor husband isnt getting followed by me brandishing my steam mop, Im following him whining about baby names.  Looks like Halloween has come early for him.  Hes so lucky! :-)

I feel quite well in myself, but I can definitely feel that I am nearing the end now as I feel really heavy and when Ive done a cleaning session I am exhausted.  Baby remains very active and I often just stare at my stomach which does the strangest contortions as baby wiggles and jiggles.

Some nights I manage to get a good nights sleep, others I wake in the early hours then I just cant drift back.  I dont know if thats because my mind suddenly springs into action and starts thinking about baby, or its just a pregnancy hormone thing.

Oh yes, and most days I have a moment where I think Im in labour.  I only have to have a bit of wind, and I glance nervously at my hospital bag.  In all honesty, I think Im going to go all the way to my due date, but its that anticipation and excitement of never quite knowing when baby is going to make an appearance.

I had my whooping cough and flu vaccination last week, and I was a bit disappointed that I had been left off the recall list for some reason, so I only found out about it by chance after I had Googled something else (!).  Deciding to have vaccinations is a bit of a minefield when you are pregnant, and my advice would be not to read 99% of whats written on the internet.  From horror stories of people who had the jabs, to horror stories of those who hadnt, I decided to stick with the NHS advice and get the jabs and I feel all the better for having them now.

As I head into week 37, and everyone keeps telling me any day now, I honestly feel a little nervous, but very excited of the new little person we will meet very soon, I dont think I can quite believe it, though there is no way I can go into labour yet, whilst my bag is packed, we need to get that name picked!!!

Thanks for reading,
