post pregnancy weight loss help | UTERINE SCARRING MAY HARM FERTILITY

post pregnancy weight loss help

 Uterine Scarring May Hurt Fertility

I did have a few D and Cs after my miscarriages, and it always worried me to be undergoing this surgery.
The instrument used almost resembles a coat hanger and if its hard to believe the many women dont walk away with some scarring. This article talks about "Ashermans symdrome" which can cause infertility if not treatted. Read more:

From the article:

MICHAELA KHATIB was told by eight different doctors that she would never have a second child after developing Ashermans syndrome (AS).

Nine years later baby Jasmine proved them wrong.

Schoolteacher Michaela, 40, mother to Jasmine, now 22 months, as well as 10-year-old Emily, campaigns to raise awareness for this little-known condition which often goes undiagnosed and leaves women fearing they are infertile.

It is believed that as many as 3,500 UK women develop AS each year but only a tiny percentage are diagnosed and even fewer receive treatment.

AS is caused when scar tissue forms in the womb following a surgical procedure such as a caesarean section or a D&C (dilation and curettage), which is carried out after a miscarriage or to remove a retained placenta or to terminate a pregnancy.

pregnancy weight loss in hindi | ThHYROID DISORDERS AND BODY TEMPERATURE BBT

Basal Temperature Charts Measure Thyroid Function As Well As Ovulation

Guest Post By Judy Ford

Basal temperature is frequently measured by women wishing to discover when and if they are ovulating normally. Women also use this to discover the best time to have sex and there are various products that promise success.
Keeping a basal temperature chart can be a very informative exercise and is a far cheaper alternative than expensive hormonal tests. Strangely enough, although it is so low tech the humble temperature chart can reveal a great deal more useful information than many laboratory tests. One of these outcomes is the diagnosis of previously unsuspected thyroid problems. Despite being quite common, thyroid disease can often remain undiagnosed for many years and can be a source of general health, psychological and reproductive problems. Clinicians other than Endocrinologists seem to be generally tuned out to the possibility of thyroid problems despite its prevalence and importance.
Women suffering from thyroid problems have reduced fertility. The thyroid gland is the controller of our metabolism and its normal functioning is critical to the health of our bodies. In some ways we can think of the thyroid as the conductor of the orchestra of the body, in the sense that it sets the correct time and rhythm. One of its critical functions is to control body temperature. Low thyroid function is characterized by tiredness, weight gain, feeling the cold, depression, slowed reflexes, coarsening and dryness of the skin and deepening of the voice especially when tired.
My first experience of diagnosing hypothyroidism (low thyroid function) happened thirty years ago when I was asked to counsel a woman who was both infertile and depressed. She had been receiving treatment for her conditions from both a psychiatrist and fertility specialist. When she arrived I noticed that she had a large goiter and asked who was treating her thyroid problem? She in turn said "What thyroid problem"? Neither specialist had observed this most obvious symptom because it was not in their area of specialization!

Another case came when I was jointly advising an infertility client with a naturopath. In this case I observed low temperatures on the basal temperature chart and asked whether the thyroid function had been tested. The naturopath had no idea that these low temperatures indicated a thyroid problem so was pleased that we had shared the information as a learning experience.
Low thyroid function can be caused by iodine deficiency, which is correctable by supplementing the diet. If the temperature is only slightly low and no other symptoms are present then the condition might be cured by eating seaweed and eating Sushi is a great way of doing this. However low thyroid function is often the result of an inherited autoimmune condition called Hashimotos thyroiditis and must be treated with medication by a Specialist.
It is important to recognise the early signs of thyroid disease as it can lead to both infertility and miscarriage. When a woman is hypothyroid it is still possible for her to become pregnant. If she does, maternal antibodies against the thyroid can cross the placenta and destroy the babys thyroid gland. Babies affected in this way are born with hypothyroidism, which causes a condition known as cretinism. If not treated at birth, the child will have deformed growth and mental retardation.
The other extreme of thyroid disease is the overactive thyroid. The symptoms are loss of weight, feeling hot, profuse sweating and eyes that appear to be about to pop out of their sockets. This is a potentially very dangerous illness and needs immediate treatment. However it is not usually picked up in basal temperature charts.

baby weight loss and gain after birth | GLUTEN INFERTILITY AND MISCARRIAGE

baby weight loss and gain after birth

Gluten May Affect Some Womens Fertility

I keep hearing more and more about how gluten may be the culprit behind infertility and miscarriage.

Here is an article that explain what gluten is and how it can wreak havoc on your digestive system.

Celiac disease, and gluten intolerance are both known to be important causes of infertility and miscarriage which can easily be remedied by a gluten free diet. Celiac disease can be tested for with a blood test which is relatively accurate as long as you have been consuming gluten regularly in the month or so before the test day. As soon as you cut gluten out of your diet, the volume of of anti-gluten antibodies that your body produces drops, which can make the test misleading.

Many women are sensitive to gluten containing grains, but do not have an autoimmune reaction to gluten making testing even more tricky. Gluten sensitivity testing can be expensive and is not usually covered by health insurance. Many women simply decide to try a month or two on a strict gluten free diet to see how they feel. Many times they are pleasantly surprised by both how easy - and enjoyable - a gluten free diet can be, and by how good they feel often in unexpected ways...

Recently one of my fe
rtility coaching clients relayed how she had had a series of unfortunate miscarriages - all preceded by uterine growth retardation - and yet had also had one successful pregnancy which she carried to term. When I raised the issue of celiac testing (uterine growth restriction is common in celiac pregnancies) it turned out that this one miraculous pregnancy was conceived - and carried - during a period on a gluten free diet pursued as a health kick. Gluten can be a powerful saboteur of fertility and fertility can quickly return when it is removed.

baby lose weight during growth spurt | D C MAY CAUSE SCARRING ASHERMANS SYNDROME

baby lose weight during growth spurt

Trying To Get Pregnant Naturally?  A D&C May Cause Scarring and Affect Fertility

Ever heard of Ashermans syndrome? It can be caused by a previous D & C which can be done for a number of reasons from heavy bleeding to an incomplete miscarriage.

SEE ALSO: DO YOU NEED A D&C AFTER MISCARIAGE? (Getpregnantover40.com)

I recall being advised to have a D & C after one of my miscarriages. I didnt want to because I didnt really want any sharp instruments inside my one and only uterus, but I wound up having it anyway because it appeared that the pregnancy tissue was still growing even though there was no heartbeat and the fetus wasnt viable. Here is more information about how adhesions can affect your fertility:

From the article:

Ashermans syndrome is a type of adhesion - where bands of scar-like tissue form inside the body between two surfaces, causing them to stick together. Adhesions are a common problem, affecting 93 per cent of patients who undergo surgery.

All the abdominal and pelvic organs - which are most susceptible to adhesions - are wrapped together in a clear membrane, the peritoneum. When this is traumatised either by infection or surgery, it triggers an inflammatory response, stimulating the growth of fibrous scar tissue. Ashermans is the term given to adhesions in the womb.

The problem is triggered by a dilation and curettage (D&C), a standard procedure used to clear the womb after a miscarriage, or when the placenta is retained after childbirth or a termination, says Adrian Lower, a consultant gynaecologist and one of only a handful of Ashermans specialists in the UK.

An ultrasound revealed parts of the placenta had embedded into Sophies womb. Left untreated, it could lead to serious infection

He says: During the procedure, a spoon-shaped instrument [a curette] is used to scrape the uterus lining.

Its thought that Ashermans occurs when this is done too forcefully, he says. Around 100,000 procedures are carried out each year, with five per cent resulting in Ashermans.
