pregnancy weight loss morning sickness | IVF 5 TIMES MORE COMPLICATIONS IN BABIES

pregnancy weight loss morning sickness

Even though Im an advocate of getting pregnant naturally, even I was surprised to hear that babies born through IVF have five times the risk of complications such as early infant death, stillbirth and prematurity. What is even more surprising is that the figures excluded women with multiple births.  One researcher who previously link IVF with a higher incidence of birth defects described something called "hormonal hangover" which was his way of describing how fertility drugs can stay in a womans system and affect the uterus and the placenta.

According to the article:
"Professor Davies also warned that there is an ‘urgent need’ to track the long-term health of babies born through IVF.
He added: ‘It is appropriate that we are informed of the risks associated with the therapy and the source of that risk, so we can make informed decisions.’
Around 50,000 women in the UK have IVF each year leading to 17,000 births. Dr Geeta Nargund, medical director of the London Create fertility clinic, said doctors should make IVF ‘as safe as possible’ by not using high doses of drugs."

mumsnet pregnancy weight lose | The advice you shouldnt listen too

mumsnet pregnancy weight lose

If I hear the phrase, sleep when baby sleeps, I may just scream and pack my bags to live in the mountains with a herd of goats.  When you have a baby, well meaning advice comes at your from all angles, from friends and family to random comments from strangers and the darn right bizarre from our friend Mr.Google.  So forget what advice youve been given. Heres the truth.

Sleep when baby sleeps.
Argh! How many times have I heard this one? Only every day of my new-baby sleep deprived life. Have you ever tried it?  Babies are born with a highly tuned set of skills when born, this includes with ninja precision timing their sleeps to coincide with: a)someone knocking at the door b)workmen drilling outside c) the telephone ringing d)all of the above or my personal favourite e) not sleeping and becoming wide awake the moment you put them in their cot. My advice? If you cant sleep in the day, dont worry about it.  In all honesty you are going to feel absolutely exhausted anyway.  If you can nap, sure, go for it.  If you cant, dont beat yourself up about it. Try and have at least five minutes to yourself having a cup of tea and maybe updating yourself with the world of celebrity gossip on your phone (thats just me then).

Dont do housework.
Everyone says you shouldnt do any housework when youre a new mum, which is obviously true in those first few weeks.  However, beyond that, unless you want to eat off paper plates and chase wild raccoons from the site which was once your kitchen, youre going to have to tidy up at some point. My advice? Break the tasks down and have a simple aim each day, even if that one thing is to vacuum or hide the mess under the stairs.

Dont do the ironing.
My tip? I like to apply the four question rule with ironing. Hold the item up and ask yourself these four questions...
Does it need ironing?
Will you wear it this week?
Would anyone notice if it wasnt ironed?
Is it yours?
If you get four yess then give it a little iron.  Any nos and it goes back in the pile. Youre welcome.

The magic cure.
Everyone has a magic cure for whatever problem you have with your baby. The magic fix might be gripe water, a dummy, drinking herbal tea or eating your own placenta to cure an unsettled baby, colic or constipation.  But guess what? There are as many cures as there are babies.  There is no quick fix.  Accept it and go with your gut, and dont be disappointed if running round the garden three times naked wont cure your babies sleeplessness.

You are doing amazing.
This is the one piece of advice I think any parent needs to be reminded of. Being a parent is hard bloody work, whether you are a parent to a newborn, toddler or teenager.  We are all just trying our best to raise happy and healthy individuals. We compare ourselves constantly to what others are doing, questioning every decision we make, but you know what? The majority of the time youve got it right because you are doing whats right for you and your little one.  Forget that mums facebook feed with her oh-so-brilliant crafts. Forget the new mum with the amazing Instagram. Some days? Its fine if your biggest achievement was brushing your teeth.  Hang on in there. You really are doing an amazing job.

weight loss early pregnancy symptom | TTC WATCH OUT FOR TOO MUCH CANDY!

weight loss early pregnancy symptom

Even if you dont have kids, Halloween is a time when everyone seems to be throwing candy at you. Either you have it around the house for the trick or treaters or theres a big bowl of it at work.

If youre trying to conceive, all that fat and sugar can negatively affect your fertility. Heres a link to a book and article that discusses how what we eat can affect almost all aspects of our health including fertility:

SEE ALSO: MY SERIES ON FOODS FOR FERTILITY (getpregnantover40.com)

According to the article:

"Many fertility experts believe that an unhealthy diet, high in fat, sugar, and processed foods and low in nutrients essential to fertility, can lead to infertility and increase the chances of miscarriage."

Related to your overall health:

A diet high in fat (particularly saturated fat) and high in salt is associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease.
It is estimated that, on average, a third of cancers could be prevented by changes in diet. A diet which is high in fiber and whole grain cereal and low in fat has the potential to prevent a number of cancers, including colon, stomach and breast cancer.

A diet high in fat, sugar and salt leads to weight gain and increases the risk of obesity. Carrying excess weight doesnt just increase the risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer and infertility, it is also associated with fatigue, low self-esteem and poor mental and physical performance.

An unhealthy diet increases the risk of depression and mood swings. Its also linked to PMS, food cravings and anxiety.

A diet high in additives, preservatives and refined sugar can cause poor concentration, hyperactivity and aggression. This is because foods high in sugar and additives lack chromium, which is removed in the refining process. Chromium is needed for controlling blood sugar levels; when these levels are out of control it can trigger these behavioral problems.

A diet that is low in the essential nutrient calcium (needed to keep your bones strong) increases the risk of bones becoming weak or brittle - a condition known as osteoporosis.

A diet low in nutrients puts enormous strain on the liver. The liver is essential for the proper digestion and absorption of life-sustaining vitamins and minerals. For optimum health you need your liver to be in peak condition. The liver cannot cope with large amounts of saturated fat and alcohol and this can lead to liver and kidney problems, such as kidney disease and cirrhosis (a life-threatening condition where the cells of the liver die).

A diet too high in sugar can lead to too much glucose (a form of sugar carried in the bloodstream) circulating in your body. Too much glucose in the blood indicates development of blood sugar problems such as diabetes mellitus. Its symptoms are thirst, frequent need to urinate due to excess glucose, problems with vision, fatigue and recurrent infections.

If your diet is poor this can compromise your immune system and make you more susceptible to colds, flu and poor health. We need a steady and balanced intake of essential vitamins and minerals to keep our immune systems working properly, to provide protection from infections and disease.
