post pregnancy weight loss girdle | CAN POSITIVE THINKING HELP YOU GET PREGNANT

post pregnancy weight loss girdle

Believe me, Im not a "Pollyanna" who always sees the glass half full, but I have learned how to visualize what I want and know that somehow, someway, Im going to get it. I guess Id put that in the category of positive thinking. Here is an article about positive thinking and how it may help you conceive (and how negative emotions may be keeping you from your goal):

From the article

A study published in 2005 in the Italian fertility journal, Minerva Ginecologica, suggests that emotional stress can cause severe upheaval in a woman’s reproductive cycle. Women with fertility problems were found to have very high levels of the stress hormone cortisol in their bloodstream. This is the same hormone that has been found to shut down ovulation in female athletes. The study also discovered that more than 5% of all women experienced disruptions in the menstrual cycles merely because of emotional stress. This can make conception difficult or even impossible for some couples.

A study performed in 2001 at the University of California at San Diego analyzed women undergoing differing levels of depression. This study found that women who showed the most markers of depression were up to 93% less likely to become pregnant than their less-depressed peers. A study performed in 1992 showed similar results for men who were experiencing depression. Couples in which the male partner was depressed were much less likely to conceive than those couples who were not going through depression.

In 1995, a study at Brown University in Rhode Island also concluded that depression and infertility appear to be linked. In this study regarding women’s mental health, Brown University researchers discovered that women with a past history of depression were up to twice as likely to undergo examinations for fertility concerns."

...Does Positive Thinking Work?
According to recent studies, there is some merit in maintaining positive thought patterns when it comes to improving fertility. A study was performed in 2000 examining the effects of positive thinking on fertility rates in women struggling with infertility.

The 184 women involved in the study were divided into three separate groups: a cognitive restructuring group (those that took cognitive restructuring lessons), a support group (those who attended support groups to deal with the emotional stress of infertility), and a control group (those who sought no additional support for their infertility). Pregnancy rates amongst the women in the control reached only 20%, while pregnancy rates for the other two groups were between 54% and 55%. Therefore, it appears that the power of positive thought really may have an influence on your fertility.

post pregnancy weight loss goals | CONCEPTION AND IMPLANTATION OF EMBRYO

post pregnancy weight loss goals

  Implantation Of The Embryo

If youre trying to conceive, you undoubtedly are obesessed with every aspect of your biology.
Here is a very informative article on how an embryo attaches itself to the uterus. When I was in my TTC phase, I would actually visualize the embryo implanting, this article would have provided a great mental diagram for the whole process. Read more:

About 6 days after fertilization, the embryo is shaped like a sphere. The surface of the sphere is made up of a layer of specialized cells called the trophoblast. At this phase of development, the embryo is called the blastocyst. The trophoblast later gives rise to the cells that will form the fetus part of the placenta. (The placenta is made up of both maternal and fetal tissues.)

The trophoblast is coated with a protein known as L-selectin. The wall of the uterus is coated with carbohydrate molecules. The researchers believe that as the blastocyst travels along the uterine wall, L-selectin on its surface binds to the carbohydrates on the uterine wall, until the blastocyst gradually slows to a complete stop. After this happens, the cells that later become the fetus contribution to the placenta develop. The placental tissue from the fetus then invades the uterine wall by sending finger-like extensions into it. These projections make contact with the maternal blood supply, becoming the pipeline through which the fetus derives nutrients and oxygen, and rids itself of carbon dioxide and wastes.

"Its analogous to a tennis ball rolling over a table top covered with syrup," said the studys senior author, Susan Fisher, PhD., UCSF professor of stomatology, anatomy and pharmaceutical chemistry. "The embryos journey is arrested by the sticky interaction with the uterine wall."

baby losing weight in first week | IMPLANTATION DAY 8 AFTER OVULATION MOST SUCCESSFUL

baby losing weight in first week

Conception and implantation can be a very confusing subject....there is an orchestration of events that must occur for a successful pregnancy.  Factors that determines whether or not a pregnancy will progress include not only when the egg is fertilized, but also the day it implants.  Read more:

Fertilized eggs attach themselves to the lining of the womb six to 12 days after ovulation, the research shows. In most successful pregnancies, that implantation -- the real start of pregnancy -- occurs on day eight, nine or 10 following ovulation. Day eight appears to be the most successful.

"The risk of early loss was strongly related to the time of implantation," the authors wrote. "Early loss was least likely when implantation occurred by the ninth day (13 early losses among 102 pregnancies, or 13 percent) rising to 26 percent (14 of 53 pregnancies) when implantation occurred on the 10th day, 52 percent (12 of 23) on the 11th day and 82 percent (9 of 11) with implantation after day 11.

baby losing weight in utero | PREGNANCY OUTCOMES GOOD 45 AND OLDER

baby losing weight in utero

Getting Pregnant At 45 And Older - Good Outcomes

I have cited a study below which concludes that pregnancy in "older" women has generally good outcomes for mother and baby.
The study states that this is reassuring for women age 45 and older. Read more:

SEE ALSO: PREGNANCY COMPLICATIONS AND BIRTH DEFECTS OVER 40 (getpregnantover40.com)

RESULTS: Seventy-seven pregnancies in 76 women aged 45 years and over were registered in the 10-year period. There were 74 liveborn singletons, two sets of liveborn twins and one set of twins stillborn at 20 weeks gestation. Sixteen women were primiparous. Eighty-four percent of pregnancies were conceived naturally and 53% underwent prenatal chromosomal determination; 53% of women had no pre-existing medical problems, 13% had hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and 8% of women developed gestational diabetes. There were 10 preterm and six post dates deliveries. The Caesarean section rate was 49%, compared to 23% in the 20-29 years age group (P < 0.001). Ten percent of neonates were small for gestational age, and 8% were large for gestational age. Seventeen percent required admission to the special care nursery and 6% had congenital abnormalities.

CONCLUSIONS: Maternal and neonatal outcomes in this series were generally good. There was a significantly increased rate of Caesarean section. Overall, this study is reassuring for women aged 45 and over who have good general health and a chromosomally normal fetus.
