baby weight loss during teething | STRESS AND CORTISOL INFERTILITY CONNECTION

baby weight loss during teething

Actually, I hate to talk about reducing stress if you want to get pregnant.  It sounds so obvious and everyone knows they they need to "reduce their stress" to overcome infertility.  The problem is, most people dont know what it means.  I used to be a good example.  When I was first trying to conceive, I had a corporate pressure cooker job.  I left the house in the morning and didnt come home until later in the evening.  I barely had time to eat lunch or run to the bathroom.  But, if you would have asked me back then, I would have told you I was handling my stress just fine!  WRONG!  If I took time out of my work day to go to a doctor appointment, my blood pressure was high.  I blew it off as "white coat syndrome", but I think my blood pressure was elevated from all the balls I was juggling at the time.  Stress hormones can disrupt reproductive hormones...and stress can disrupt your sleep cycle.  All of these things can harm fertility and there is some evidence that stress can contribute to misarriage.

baby weight loss in first week | JOB STRESS SHORT MENSTRUAL CYCLES

baby weight loss in first week

Job Stress Leads To Short Menstrual Cycles

Stress, infertility, and miscarriage all seem to be related especially for women who are on the "career track".
Here is an interesting study that looked at how job stress can affect the length of your menstrual cycle, which, of course, could affect fertility:

RESULTS

Women whose work was classified as stressful were
twice as likely to experience short cycles as those
working in other jobs (table 2). This relation was also
seen when cycle length was examined as a continuous
variable; stressful work was associated with a decrease
in mean cycle length of almost 1 day...

...Exposure to stress has a number of known physiologic
consequences (1-3). There are plausible mechanisms
through which stress could alter hormonal profiles
and, in turn, menstrual outcomes (2, 3). The
hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis is activated during
stress and can affect the female reproductive system
(2). Stress can increase the levels of corticotropinreleasing
hormone and glucocorticoids (2). The former
suppresses hypothalamic gonadotropin-releasing hormone
secretion, which stimulates the production of
follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone,
which activate the ovary to secrete estradiol and progesterone
(3). Glucocorticoids inhibit pituitary luteinizing
hormone and ovarian estrogen and progesterone
secretion (3). High levels of luteinizing hormone and
high peak levels of luteinizing hormone have been
reported to be associated with long menstrual cycles
(30). One possible explanation of work-related stress
and increased risk for short cycle length is that
luteinizing hormone secretion has been inhibited by an
increase in corticotropin-releasing hormone or glucocorticoids.
Menstrual outcomes are important as they may be
intervening mechanisms or markers for other health
outcomes such as fertility, osteoporosis, and breast
cancer (5).

ectopic pregnancy weight loss | THE CIRCLE OF LIFE HAVING A BABY OVER 40

ectopic pregnancy weight loss

Its been a whirlwind of emotions over the last week.  My father in law has suffered from Alzheimers for the 5-8 years, but was recently diagnosed with GI cancer.  He lost his battle a few days ago and our family has been dealing with not only his death, but the flood of emotions and reflection that comes when dealing with the loss of a loved one.  No matter how much you prepare for a death, it always seems to be a surprise when it happens.  Its hard not to look at your own mortaility when you see someone move to the other side.  I do believe in an afterlife which certainly does help the process.

I am no stranger to death.  I lost my own father in my early 20s and most of my grandparents died when I was a child.   When I was trying to conceive, I went through 6 horrible miscarriages and I began to associate getting pregnant with what I thought was the inevitable loss of my baby.  You deal with a lot of thoughts of death and even to this day, I worry unnecessarily about something happening to my daughter.  You just cant go through that much trauma without some long-term consequences.

Reflecting on my father-in-laws life, you see how our time here is just a "blink of an eye" (in the words of Deepok Chopra).  Time marches on and you really do need to make the most of it.  If you are struggling with infertility, I know there is a temptation to put your life on hold while you focus every ounce of energy on getting pregnant.  During the years I was trying to conceive, I tried to focus my attention on things I enjoyed.  I did quite a bit of decorative painting in my house and my sisters house and I gathered quite a bit of information on my family tree and my husbands family tree.  Wow, did that information come in handy after my father-in-law passed away.  We went back through his family tree for his memorial service.  Not only did I gather information about the family tree, I also wrote to distant relatives to gather as many pictures to put names with faces.  My daughter loves looking at those pictures and Im glad I made the effort since many relatives have since died.

Remember, you only have one life, you need to live every day as if it is your last.  Trying to conceive is just one piece of your life right now...be sure to make every day worthwhile with no regrets.

pregnancy weight loss in 3rd trimester | FERTILE WINDOW HARD TO PINPOINT

pregnancy weight loss in 3rd trimester

Pregnancy Over 40, Menstrual Cycles and Fertile Windows Have A Lot Of Variability

Ive written many times about how ovulation can be quite hard to pinpoint.  Thats why having a regular pattern of intercourse is important.
Since ovulation can occur at different times, your fertile window may be very hard to predict. Here is an article that talks about a womens "fertile window"  I found it interesting that only 30% of women were within their fertile window entirely between the days  10-17 of their cycle (this doesnt mean that they werent fertile during some cycles within in this range, just not all cycles).  Read more:

SEE ALSO: SHORT MENSTRUAL CYCLES AND FERTILITY (getpregnantover40.com)

Results: The fertile window occurred during a broad range of days in the menstrual cycle. On every day between days 6 and 21, women had at minimum a 10% probability of being in their fertile window. Women cannot predict a sporadic late ovulation; 4-6% of women whose cycles had not yet resumed were potentially fertile in the fifth week of their cycle.
Conclusions: In only about 30% of women is the fertile window entirely within the days of the menstrual cycle identified by clinical guidelines—that is, between days 10 and 17. Most women reach their fertile window earlier and others much later. Women should be advised that the timing of their fertile window can be highly unpredictable, even if their cycles are usually regular.

weight loss end pregnancy | YES STRESS IS RELATED TO INFERTILITY

weight loss end pregnancy

Stress: The Most Overlooked Factor In Our Control When It Comes To Our Fertility?

Reduce stress if you want to get pregnant. Im not telling you anything you havent already heard right?

Its been written and rewritten to the point that everyone just says, "I do yoga, I deep breathe, now why arent I pregnant?!" When I was first trying to conceive, I had what I now call a “corporate pressure cooker” job. I worked up to 10-12 hours per day, I was continually feeling a time pressure trying to meet deadlines, I battled rush hour
traffic, I gulped my not-so-healthy lunch between meetings...
