weight loss after pregnancy over 41 | An app for pregnancy Preggie Review

weight loss after pregnancy over 41

Theres nothing more helpful than a good old app when you are pregnant to give you the all important information on how baby is progressing, what size of fruit or vegetable he or she is and where you can ask, without looking like a total idiot, if you really can eat that cheesecake (though cheesecake-gate is another blog post entirely which you can catch up on here).  I was asked to take a look at a new app called Preggie, which lets you do all of the above and a little bit more.

Preggie is a free and simple to use app. You download it to your preferred device, then fill in a few details, such as your name, when is baby due and you set up a profile of yourself.

After youve filled in your information, you immediately get a feed from other pregnant ladies across the country.  Other users upload pictures, questions, status updates and how their pregnancy is progressing.  You can then interact by liking posts, adding your thoughts to threads, uploading your own thoughts and pictures, sending direct messages and following specific users.

What immediately struck me is the supportive nature of the ladies on the app and the ability to access the app to chat or vent or share a problem, whatever the time of day or night, and be met with supportive comments.

By including the are where you live, Preggie also lets you connect with women in your local area. Pregnancy can be quite overwhelming and daunting, and I think to know that others feel the same way as you do is very reassuring. I think the location feature of this app is perfect for any pregnant mums who want to find other pregnant mums in their area, want to make new friends, know what groups might be nearby, or even want to compare bump pictures (Im totally guilty of sneakily comparing bump sizes!!!).

As Preggie is just for pregnant mums to be, you know you arent spamming your Facebook timeline or asking people questions who really arent interested about your pregnancy. Everyone is in the same boat, and thats what is so special about this app.  You also receive updates about your pregnancy, and my baby is the size of a corn today if you are interested!

With any type of social media, you need to be aware of the information you share and apply common sense.  Preggie is strongly monitored which results in a very supportive community for mums-to-be during their pregnancy.

To try this lovely free app, click on this link to download: Preggie.

Thanks for reading,

Preggie asked me to try their app and the above downloadable link is an affiliate link. All opinions are entirely my own and I think Preggie is a lovely little app that is definitely worth taking a look at.

kendra pregnancy weight lost | ENDOMETRIOSIS HELPED BY BIRTH CONTROL PILLS

kendra pregnancy weight lost

Trying To Have A Baby, Birth Control Pills May Give Ovaries A Rest

I know, taking birth control pills seems counter-intuitive when youre trying to conceive.
But, birth control pills may give your ovaries a needed rest so they can start producing again. Although longer term use of the pill may be needed, I recall fertility clinics using birth control pills to give the ovaries a chance to lay dormant before they started up with fertility drugs. If you get ovarian cysts, the pill can also help your ovaries clear up before trying to conceive. Endometriosis can also be helped by birth control pills because the monthly surge of hormones is put to rest so the endometrial implants which are outside the uterus are not bleeding and causing more adhesions.  Read more about birth control pills and other natural remedies for endometriosis:

weight loss ketones pregnancy | HOW CHROMOSOMES CAUSE MISCARRIAGE

weight loss ketones pregnancy

Explanation of How Chromosomal Abnormalities Result In Miscarriage

Miscarriage and Recurrent Miscarriage

Wow... the more I read articles like this one, the more I realize how much of getting pregnant and staying pregnant involves luck.
My site:  www.getpregnantover40.com
The study mentioned below looked at egg formation and the arrangement of chromosomes. It isnt a perfect process and getting the right number of chromosomes almost seems like a "hit and miss" process. Read more:

During meiosis, fibres called microtubules attach themselves to the centre (kinetochore) of the chromosomes. The microtubules act like fishing lines and once a chromosome is caught it is pulled to the opposite side of the cell from its partner.

But, before the microtubules hook the chromosomes, the researchers noticed that they herd them together into the centre of the cell. Despite this repositioning, almost 90 per cent of chromosomes were let off the hook only to be re-caught.

See Also: Miscarriage Over 40 (www.getpregnantover40.com)

"We saw that they [the microtubules] have to go through several tries before getting the connection right," says Ellenberg.
Third time lucky

In fact, some chromosomes were released up to six times, though most averaged three. Ellenberg says this means that the pathway that corrects the errors by uncoupling the chromosome and the microtubule is therefore heavily used and thus more prone to making mistakes — resulting in too few or too many chromosomes in the egg.

"Our findings provide a plausible explanation for the high rate of errors during egg formation."

Ellenberg adds that their observations make error correction proteins good candidates for age-related infertility.

"They form the basis to focus our future work on age-related female infertility, as it seems very likely that a component of the pathway that corrects these errors will be involved. The individual proteins that make up the machinery to correct the errors may simply not have a sufficiently long life-span to function well in very old oocytes," he says.

pregnancy weight loss smoothies | Parenthood or the MI5

pregnancy weight loss smoothies

Let me start this post off with a little disclaimer.  I love being a mum. I really, really do.  I feel so blessed and happy that I have this little and incredible person in my life. But. There are times where I find myself lying on the floor, looking to the sky, and wondering what the hell I did wrong in a previous life.  I found myself lying on the floor doing exactly that this week.  Twice.

On Wednesday I decided to have a bit of a Spring clean. My daughter was in particularly high spirits that morning and was very keen to help with the dusting.  I had ran out of cloths (she also likes to hide as many cloths as she cleans with) so I popped into our garage that you access via a locked door by the kitchen.  In I went to hunt for the cloths, and then I heard it.  A familiar clicking sound.  No, I thought.  Oh no,no,no. Surely not.  I walked calmly ran like a woman possessed back to the garage door and turned the handle. It was locked. I was locked in the garage, with no way into the house (always security conscious the front door was locked too!).

My first instinct was to roll on the ground and weep, but I didnt.  I took a deep breath.  Can you open the door for Mummy?, I called. No, came the reply. I whispered some expletives at this point which I wont repeat here.  I took another deep breath.  Can you let me out and then we can have a snack?, I called. Ok, came the reply.  My daughter then proceeded to try and unlock the door, but it appeared her toddler fine motor skills only allowed her to turn a key to the locked position (for the record, that to me seems to be the worst case of toddler evolution. Ever).  My daughter then began to panic as the realisation came that her mummy was locked in the garage.  That or the fact that she couldnt have her snack. Its ok,  I called,  Dont worry.  Go and get your little stool and see if you can turn the key then.  Off she toddled to get her stool and she tried again.  She still couldnt do it and she started to cry.

Luckily for me, I could get out of the garage to the front of the house. I still couldnt get in, but at least I had access to help. Aside from scaling the 15ft drainpipe to the front of our house, I came up with no bright ideas.  My neighbour came out just as I was staring blankly at the front door.  She too tried to coax my now hysterical daughter into turning the key.  Maybe I could ask her to scale drainpipe? No, no, bad idea, shes 80.  There was nothing else for it.  My neighbour lent me her phone as I called my husband at work and informed him our darling two year had locked me out of the house.  Twenty minutes later and I was safely back inside the house with a very upset toddler and a bemused husband.

To be completely honest, I felt that this level intense pressure was enough to satisfy my toddler that I am good enough to be in sole charge of her daily.  But she wasnt quite finished. Oh no. My toddler had one last trick up her sleeve.

We both popped into town on Friday and whilst we were in a very busy M&S store (Valentines £20 meal deal anyone?!) she declared she needed the toilet so we wandered to the toilets and got in line.  Did I say it was really busy?! We went into our cubicle where there isnt room to swing a cat, and my daughter went first and then I went.  But, during my allocated time on the said toilet, my daughter decided she had clearly had enough of waiting a mere 30 WHOLE SECONDS and she opened the door and then proceeded to wander out of the cubicle!!! This left the cubicle door wide open, me...well, rather exposed and a toddler on the loose.  Again, my immediate reaction was to drop to the floor and weep (after pulling up my jeans), but lets just say in the blink of an eye I had simultaneously grabbed my jeans, my daughters arm and the cubicle door.  I can only pray the other people in the queue had bad eyesight.

I have passed, or failed enough toddler tests for one week.  I feel I have demonstrated calmness, the use of more whispered expletives than is humanly possible, extreme dexterity and the ability to multi-task.  Not to mention the ability to turn the colour of a beetroot in a nano-second. I have a feeling the entry tests the MI5 set are a hell of alot easier than the tasks my toddler kindly sets for me.  I need a lie down.

Any toddler tests you would like to share? Comments below please and as always thanks for reading,

kim pregnancy weight loss | UNEXPLAINED INFERTILITY WE DONT KNOW

kim pregnancy weight loss

The expression "unexplained infertilty" means that the medical community has no idea why youre not getting pregnant.
If youre trying to conceive over 40, your age is a neat a tidy "explanation" for your failure to conceive or an explanation of recurrent miscarriage.

Unexplained Infertility Means The Doctors Have No Idea Why Youre Not Getting Pregnant

How did I deal with this? Well in an odd sort of way, part of my motivation to get pregnant naturally came from these "naysaying" doctors. I was going to prove them wrong.

How Dare You Tell Me Im Too Old To Have A Baby!

I would frequently think to myself, "How dare you tell me Im too old to have a baby --- you just wait - you dont know who youre dealing with". Nobody actually came right out and said I was too old, but the message was there.

Its funny, but when I did finally succeed, one of the doctors who was quite negative about my chances of getting pregnant was bouncing off the walls with excitement. I think they really do want you to succeed and as more of us do, perhaps their attitudes toward older women will change.  You have to realize that Reproductive Endocrinologists (or fertility doctors) see the worst cases, they approach each couple with pessimism.

Unexplained Infertility May Not Exist

Here is an article about how the diagnosis of unexplained infertility may actually not exist...it mentions that perhaps it should be changed to "undiagnosed infertility". Read more:

SEE ALSO: GET PREGNANT NATURALLY (getpregnantover40.com)

Conclusions

We have presented evidence that the non-diagnosis of UI is, at best, highly subjective and inaccurate and, at worst, non-existent. Indeed, were it to be preserved, one would, at a minimum, have to accept the notion that a diagnosis of UI always has to be seen as provisional and subject to revisions. Any serious attempt to improve the didactic terminology in the field of reproductive medicine, would, however, suggest that there is no longer a place for such a diagnostic entity. A better effort should be undertaken to develop reliable tools to diagnose, hitherto often undiagnosed, conditions of endometriosis, tubal disease, premature ovarian ageing and immunological infertility, which are often misdiagnosed for UI. Diagnostic terminology should be based on evidentiary diagnostic findings and not on their absence.

Even the best, and most accurate, diagnostic approach will leave some patients without a specific diagnosis. We would argue that such patients should be considered ‘undiagnosed‘, rather than have a formal diagnosis of UI attached to them. After all, they do not have a diagnosis!

post pregnancy weight loss quickly | Flight Essentials

post pregnancy weight loss quickly

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well. As you read this I will be somewhere in America on holiday with my husband and daughter.  I thought Id do a quick post as to my plane essentials. I love the anticipation of holidays, so I have been doing alot of YouTube watching and blog reading to find out what products are recommended for travel.  Without further ado, heres my top flight essentials.

Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Blusher
I had never tried a cream blush before, but I am now converted.  This blush stick has a lovely creamy texture and blends in easily.  I plan to pop this on before we arrive at our destination so my cheeks will have that pinky glow even if my skin is far from glowing naturally. This is such a convenient stick and less messy than carrying my blush powder and brush.

Deodorant
I will never use anything other than Dove deodorant.  This is a staple.

Lip balm and hand cream
Obviously.

Pain relief sachets
As a mum, I always have to be within an arms reach of some kind of pain relief, just in case of sudden fever or pain.  These sachets are fantastic as they contain a single recommended does of paracetamol and ibuprofen. They are the perfect size for popping in your bag and for travel.

Toothbrush and toothpaste
I am that strange lady that always steals hotel toiletries.  This is a stolen toothbrush from somewhere.  Its perfect for the plane.  Nobody likes fuzzy teeth.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask
I had read lots of rave reviews of this product so thought I would give it a go. Normally when I travel, no matter how much moisturiser I put on, my skin resembles that of an iguana when I disembark the plane. My plan is to go bare faced for the flight, with just my eyebrows done and some mascara.  I then plan to apply this mask throughout the flight.  The mask is a clear gel, and after only a few minutes of applying it, I find it has sunk into my skin.  Its deeply moisturising and my skin looks healthy and plump after using it. It contains gorgeous ingredients such as apricot kernel, avocado oil and mango butters and it smells delicious. The best bit is you dont have to wash it off as it is absorbed into the skin.

So thats my plane essentials and Im ready to go! Are there any flight essentials that I have missed? Comments below please!

P.S Yes there are a few Ive missed.  Hand sanitiser and baby wipes. Yep. Think thats everything. Bye!

pregnancy weight loss symptom | Teenager birthday gift ideas

pregnancy weight loss symptom

I sometimes find that buying birthday presents for teenagers can be a little bit tricky. Not yet an adult but certainly not a child, teenagers are in that middle ground.  Besides the obligatory gift voucher or money in a card, thinking of a present for a teenager can take a little bit of creative thought! This week, it was my beautiful nieces 14th birthday and upon asking her what she wanted as a gift and her replying that she didnt mind, I set to work on creating her gift. Gulp!

But first, lets just appreciate the ribbon. How cute is this ribbon? I picked it up from Hobbycraft and thought it was a lovely finishing touch to the present! I adore putting ribbon round presents.  I know some people may think its a waste of time, but for me it really brings a present together and I always think how lovely it is to receive a beautifully wrapped present.  A metre normally costs around 50p - £1 so I always like to add it when I can.  But, onto whats inside!

I picked up this gorgeous little suitcase from a little shop called Yellowstone at Trentham Gardens in Stoke-on-Trent (if you ever go near here, you MUST check this amazing boutique out).  The case was in the childrens section, but I thought this was ideal to hold lots of little gifts, and it is something my niece can hopefully use for storing things inside after her birthday.  Inside the case I then individually gift wrapped little presents.  Presents within a present are always a winner for me! I wrapped a gift voucher for her favourite shop and some hair accessories. She also adores cats, so I found this really cute little cat milk jug.

I also picked up this Ted Baker mini-body spray.  I always struggle with what beauty bits and pieces to get her, but I thought she would like the smell of this as it isnt as strong as a perfume but still has a pretty and sweet smell.

And that was her little gift case.  Simple, but a bit more than your usual gift voucher.  I hope she loves it and I really enjoyed choosing her gifts within a gift.  I just cant believe she is 14 already!!! I hope this post gives you some inspiration for any teenagers you have to buy for and you can tailor the little gifts to their likes and interests.

Have you got teenagers you need to buy gifts for? Any tips on picking gifts?

Thanks for reading,

quick post pregnancy weight loss | Blood on Snow by Jo Nesbo A Review

quick post pregnancy weight loss

I had never tried an audio book before, so I was a little apprehensive when Mumsnet Bloggers asked me to listen to Blood on Snow, an audio book, written by Jo Nesbo.  The thought of listening to someone read a book, I dont know, it just didnt really appeal to me.  I am a such a big fan of having something physical to hold and read in front of me.

The book is read by Patti Smith, and I am not going to lie and say I am completely familiar with her and the whole Punk movement, but I had heard of her.  Her accent reading this book is just amazing to listen to. She has a really husky, thick American accent, and from her first words I was hooked.  I mean its not in many books you read that someones lying on the floor dead and you already know its the books main character, Olav whos the murderer.

Olav is a hit-man, and this book tells the story of his life, potential targets and loves. I didnt think I would connect with Olav, mainly as hes male...oh, and a killer.  But unbelievably, I quickly got transported into his world and was rooting for the main character.  I literally had no idea where the plot was going, and this became ever apparent as I thought the book was about to end, but I realised I was only half of the way through.

I want to give nothing away, because the ending is the most incredible ending I think I have read, well, listened to.  Again, you think you know where its all going, but you really do not.  The ending is wrote in such a beautiful and captivating way, that as Patti Smith read the closing scene, I just sat for moments afterwards thinking about what I had actually just heard.

There is alot of blood, violence and swearing, but I never felt out of my depth with this book.  I felt Jo Nesbo had the right amount of action, but had cleverly interwoven it with breathtaking scenery or attention to character detail that it never felt too much.

As for an audio book, I would certainly listen to another one again.  I think Patti Smith read the book beautifully and it certainly added another dimension to the book. It was actually a real luxury to relax and put in my headphones and be completely transported into Olavs world.  I cannot recommend this novel enough. You can listen to Patti Smith read the opening excerpt from Jo Nesbos Blood on Snow here, its only a minute long, but I challenge you not to want to hear more!

Have you read Blood on Snow? Would you ever try an audio book?
Comments always welcome below and thanks for reading,

pregnancy weight loss in first trimester | WOMAN CONCEIVES AT 48 BY SURPRISE

pregnancy weight loss in first trimester

Having A Baby At 48

Heres an article about a woman who conceived naturally (by surprise) at the age of 48! Of course, pregnancy is always the last thing considered at that age - but shouldnt be. Read more:

CLICK HERE FOR MORE ON PREGNANCY OVER 40 INCLUDING MY SURPRISE PREGNANCY AT 49 (getpregnantover40.com)

From the article:

I finally decided to see my health practitioner. When he asked what my symptoms
were, I again said that I felt pregnant – ha ha ha. I told him about stopping my
medication and he agreed that this was the most likely explanation for my lethargy,
hormonal weirdness, and beautiful breasts. Neither of us considered that I could
actually be pregnant – I was too old!

...One night at about ten o’clock, after succumbing to a two-day craving for a buffalo
burger, it struck me like a lightning bolt: Oh my God, maybe I AM pregnant! Even
though I’d joked about it repeatedly, the thought was so shocking and bizarre that I
couldnt think straight or sit still. I drove straight to the nearest pharmacy to buy a
pregnancy kit. It was positive - yikes! I still couldnt bring myself to believe it. I did a
fairly good job of convincing myself that I could be one of those rare false positives.

symptoms of pregnancy weight loss | Pregnancy Blog Week 24

symptoms of pregnancy weight loss

Hello week 24! Its been quite an interesting week this week as I started a new class of pregnancy yoga that I will never go to ever again, but I will come onto that little drama in a minute.  Lets talk about bump first.

Health wise Ive felt OK this week. It seems I have some days where I have loads of energy, and then some days I feel like I really havent the energy to do much at all.  But Im just going with the flow and making good use of the good days.  Ive managed to strip the old nursery wallpaper and get some paint samples and the room is slowly starting to take shape (I think).  I still have to sand the walls and then wash them which is my least favourite bit, and I have a feeling I will have to dig deep to find the energy to do that!!!

Baby seems to like doing alot of rolls and he or she also likes to rest a limb poking directly under my ribcage.  Ive been really uncomfortable under my right side for the last few days, so if baby could just move its arm or leg down a little bit, it would be much appreciated!!

This week I decided to try out a new pregnancy yoga class. I first did pregnancy yoga when I was pregnant with my daughter and I loved it.  I found it really relaxing and I even made a few friends at the class. Unfortunately, the lady who ran the classes doesnt any more, so hence why this was a completely new class.

I walked into this medium sized room and was greeted with about 25 pairs of eyes looking at me!  The instructor seemed nice enough though, and she told me to take a seat on my mat where there was a space.  Immediately I got the vibes that everyone sat in the same place every week, and the only space left for me was up wedged by a cupboard.  Not exactly the most relaxing place to attempt yoga.

We did some basic yoga moves and then we were asked to lie on our backs and do some sort of thrusting motion raising up and down.  Now, I might not be that up-to-date with current advice, but last time I checked it was a big no-no to lie on your back.  Yet here I was on my back.

I really wish I had had the courage to sit up and say I wasnt doing the exercises as I wasnt comfortable.  But Im ashamed to say with the twenty or so other women, I just couldnt. Even if they were safe, it was ingrained in my mind that I didnt want to be lying on my back, so the whole time I was thinking, oh my god Im killing my baby, and then Id keep rolling onto my side as though I was secretly resuscitating baby and giving him or her a few good breaths.

We did some more yoga moves, and I managed to stop hyperventilating that Id suffocated my baby, as Baby Bee gave some good wiggles.  But then, dum dum dum, group work!!

We were split into groups and we had to talk about some photographs of babies that were handed out. Now each to their own, and Im not judging the other women that were there. But me? I really cant be bothered to sit and chit-chat about babies with ladies I dont know and I certainly dont want a new BFF.  One woman gave her gory labour story, another slagged off health professionals, one lady was very vocal about EVERYTHING and me? I didnt say a word.  (I think they all thought I was very stuck up).

The truth is, group work really isnt my thing.  And after the lying on my back debacle, I just wanted to get home, see my husband and eat my tea.  I came home anxious not only about the yoga poses, but also wondering if I was normal.  Surely I should want to talk to other mums to be? What if I end up with no friends with a baby thats a similar age to mine? What if I get lonely? Whats wrong with me?

As usual a chat to my mum reassured me.  Why was I trying to be someone Im not? Why was I being so hard on myself? And quite frankly who cares about group work and a bloody yoga group.  Lifes way too short.

Sometimes we are so set on being like everybody else, that when we feel something different we worry theres something wrong with us.  But I cant be someone Im not.  If I didnt like it, I didnt like it.  And Im not at school.  So if instead of doing group work with a bunch of strangers Id rather be bouncing on my maternity ball eating chocolate, then so be it.  I am who I am.

I have lots of lovely friends who will support me.  And come to think of it, Ive only got one new friend who I met antenatally, and the rest are old friends or new people I met along the way after I had had my daughter.

Needless to say I wont be returning to that group, but I certainly wouldnt judge those that do go.  If thats your thing, go for it.  But for me, I want to be lying on my side, and the only group work I want to be doing is with my husband trying to catch our daughter ready for bath time.

Thanks for reading, and would love to hear your thoughts.  Anything similar happen to you? Do you like a spot of group-work?  Comments below please!

Have a great weekend,

quick pregnancy weight loss | Morning Sickness and my first trimester

quick pregnancy weight loss

Before we begin I think I should do a little disclaimer.  Firstly, this post is not meant to scare anyone or put anyone off having children. This is just a truthful and honest account of the first few weeks of my pregnancy.  Secondly, I cannot emphasise enough how happy, blessed and ecstatic I am to be pregnant.  So whilst my first trimester may have been tough, I wouldnt change a bit of it.  OK, I would like less sickness, but you get my point.

For the first six weeks of my pregnancy I felt absolutely fine.  I had that amazing feeling of being pregnant and keeping it a secret from the whole world.  I couldnt quite believe that it had happened and pretty much day dreamed about our little new addition all day.  Happy days. Then I hit six weeks.  It was almost to the count of midnight on that sixth week that the nausea started.  I can deal with this, I thought. Ive done it once, I can do it again.

Whichever idiot came up with the word morning sickness has alot to answer for.  Its like saying morning pregnancy, lunchtime marriage, teatime mum.  Exactly.  These things are not limited to one time of day and neither is morning sickness. Though it would do me a huge favour if it were.

To begin with I had a constant feeling of being nauseas and feeling like I was going to be sick.  I struggled to eat because I didnt want to worsen the horrible sicky feeling. Combined with a horrible metallic taste in my mouth it wasnt good. I relieved the taste by frequently spitting, and my dad even commented I should have a spit bucket because he had saw me do it that often.  Nice.

To make my myself feel better I would go to bed at a ridiculous time, like 6.30pm because I couldnt stand the sickness feeling.  I would rather be asleep than be awake and experience it. The nausea gradually got worse though, to the point where I felt sick in my sleep and I felt I had no respite from it.  I forced myself to do my everyday tasks but really struggled.  I went past caring how I looked to take and collect my daughter from pre-school, but I think on one particular occasion they hardly recognised me as her mum. Sad times.

By around 9 weeks the nausea had progressed to me actually being sick, at any time of day, but mainly in the morning and any-time past 3pm. And this is how it has been for the last 5 weeks.  It has really got me down. And the I have felt guilty that it has got me down when I should be really happy.  And then I have felt guilty for not being a good mum to my toddler or good wife to my husband. I just didnt feel like me anymore.

Whilst my life revolved around either running to the toilet or lying on the toilet floor, my daughter had to either sit next to me playing with her toys or sit watching TV.  I felt so awful and I felt like a terrible mum.  My husband suffered too (though obviously not as much as me).  To start with he had to listen to my constant vomiting, normally when he was eating his tea.  And then there was the fact he hardly saw me.  When he got home from work I was usually in my pjs and lay in bed, crying.  And thats the other thing.  I am a definite crier when I am ill.  I just cant help it.  So you can imagine how many times Ive cried.  Oh no, you cant actually, because Ive cried so much I think I now hold the world record.

Through all of this, we hadnt told any friends we were expecting as we wanted to wait until our 12 week scan.  I lied to one friend that I had a sickness bug.  I lied to another that I was really busy and couldnt possibly meet her for lunch.  I then worried that when I did feel better I would have no friends left.

But for the last week, I have felt different.  The nausea is still there but I am definitely vomiting less.  My energy is returning and I am able to do things that I wouldnt dream of doing a few weeks ago.  I also feel like me again which is amazing.

I know everyones pregnancy is very different, but I wanted to share my experience. I think feeling so awful at the start of pregnancy is really at odds with how we think it should be.  We imagine feeling fabulous, looking glowing and being so happy and excited. And whilst I was happy and excited, feeling so ill really impacted how I felt emotionally. If anyone is going through the same, hang on in there.  It does get better. You will get through it. I also think I didnt realise how guilty I would feel for feeling absent from my toddler and absent from my husband and friends.  With hormones all over the place and constant crying it has been tough.  But I think everyone whos had to put up with me is sighing with relief that Im feeling more myself. Everyone accept my daughter who unfortunately has now perfected a horrible vomiting noise and I think is actually quite disappointed she cant watch the TV much now.

Whilst I may hold that record for most amount of tears shed, I plan to break that record with happy tears when I get to hold my second baby in November. Hello second trimester, Im ready for you.

pregnancy weight loss immediately after delivery | CATHOLIC VIEW OF INFERTILITY TREATMENTS

pregnancy weight loss immediately after delivery

Although I grew up in the Catholic Church, I have not considered myself a Catholic in my adult life.  Actually, I probably lean more to the "spiritual" side rather than the "religious" side, but I am certainly respectful of all beliefs.  I recall when I ran a womens infertility support group, there were those who brought up how fertility treatments may conflict with their religion.  For anyone interested, this site gives the Catholic view of infertility treatments:

SEE ALSO: INFERTILITY IN THE BIBLE (getpregnantover40.com)

Reproductive Technologies in Agreement with Catholic Teachings:

  1. Observation of the naturally occuring sign(s) of fertility (Natural Family Planning). Time intercourse on the days of presumed (potential) fertility for at least six months before proceeding to medical interventions.
  2. General medical evaluation of both spouses for infertility.
  3. Post-coital test to assess sperm count and viability. These tests are undertaken after normal intercourse.
  4. Appropriate evaluation and treatment of male factor deficiency. Seminal fluid samples can be obtained from a non-lubricated, perforated condom after normal intercourse.
  5. Assessment of uterine and tubal structural competence by imaging techniques (e.g., ultrasound, hysterosalpingogram, etc.).
  6. Appropriate medical treatment of ovulatory and hormonal dysfunction.
  7. Appropriate (usually surgical) correction of organic problems underlying male or female infertility

pregnancy weight loss shakes | The Book of You by Claire Kendal Review

pregnancy weight loss shakes

Are you looking for a sweet and romantic tale of lovers, lust and longing for Valentines? Erm, well you best be moving along.  This book is chilling, tense and absolutely terrifying.  My advice? Dont read this before going to bed.  I found I couldnt sleep.  Partly due to fear of what Id just read, and partly due to the fact I couldnt wait to keep on reading.

The Book of You is the very chillingly debut novel of Claire Kendal.  It tells the story of Clarissa and her acquaintance Rafe, who is a stalker. You are quickly drawn into Clarissas world. Of never being left alone. Of constantly being frightened.  And before you know it, the author has cleverly made you too, look out for and fear the very disturbing Rafe on every page. Kendal tells at times the gruesome and harrowing, tale with ease and the novel takes you to a chilling and scary place.

Intertwined with the story of Clarissa are the details of her ongoing jury service and her love of fairy tales.  Miraculously, these topics are woven seamlessly into the story and really reflect the turmoil that Clarissa is experiencing. Unlike alot of thriller books I have read, the truth behind this story with stalking at its heart really made parallels to reality, which to me, made the story all the more gripping and chilling.

The ending certainly wasnt what I had expected.  But then I think the ending actually is very reflective of life.  And it cant be all fairy tales can it? This is an amazing debut novel and you wont be able to put it down to find out if anyone actually does live, happily ever after.

dr oz pregnancy weight lose | A Meditation On Murder by Robert Thorogood A review

dr oz pregnancy weight lose

I was very kindly sent the book, A Meditation On Murder, by Mumsnet bloggers to review. For the first time, as I unwrapped my brand new book, my heart sank.  The books characters are based on the hit TV series, Death in Paradise, and this brand new story is written by the shows creator, Robert Thorogood. I can vaguely remember the TV series on the BBC, but I never, ever watched it as I didnt think it really appealed to me.  So, when I looked down at my shiny new book I thought this time, Id have to write a bad review. The last few murder novels Ive read have involved alot of violence, very creepy killers and a very fast paced plot. Would a book about a detective in a wool suit and a murder on a tropical island even hold my attention to finish reading it? YES, YES and YES!!!!!

I dont think I could have been more wrong about this novel.  It is such an amazing read. Thorogood is clearly a very talented writer and I was hooked after the very first page. Just who had killed Aslan Kennedy in a locked room with only five other people in it?

I loved the characters and even though Id never watched the TV series, the characters were brought to life. The writer beautifully entwines the murder plot and the idiosyncrasies of the characters, and I literally couldnt put the book down. There certainly wasnt the violence and the swearing and gore of my recent murder book reads, but that really didnt matter. This book held my attention and kept me turning the pages without all of that.  The plot twists and turns, and the moment you think youve worked it all out, is the very moment Thorogood completely changes the way the story is going.

This book is a must Summer read.  If you loved the TV series you will love this book. But, similarly, if you werent even interested in the TV series or never watched it, you will love this book. Very cleverly written, comical, and a page turner. You wont be able to put this book down until you find out exactly what went on in that locked room...and it really wont be what you imagined.
